Mayor's Court. --Recorder Caskie presided in the Court yesterday, and disposed of business with commendable dispatch. Joe James, a free negro boy, was ordered to be slightly thrashed for stealing $280 from his mother, Adeline James. He had bought two pistols with part of the stolen funds. Matthew A Davis, a white boy, plead guilty to the charge of stealing two pairs of shoe uppers from Mike P Shannon. He said he had returned one pair and would return the other if he could recover them. He was discharged with a serious admonition. The case of Lewis H Allen, the boy charged with forging the name of John H Baptist to an order on the Post-Office, was continued till to day. Mary Plait was charged with beating Sarah Carrick. This was a household row, occurring between these ladies, who occupied the same house, on the southside of the basin. The Recorder thinking no great damage had been or was likely to be done by either of the parties to the other, dismissed
