Lieut. Col. Hesser, of the 72d Pennsylvania, formerly Bexter's Zouaves, was killed soon after the information of our skirmish line. The color bearer, who was in advance of the line, was ordered to proceed more cautiously, and Col. Hesser had advanced to the front for the purpose of seeing to the execution of the order, when he was shot twice, one hall passing through the head and the other through the leg.
