C., has been appointed First Assistant Engineer in the Confederate States Navy. It is said that dispatches have been received at Montgomery from several prominent border State men, asking the cessation of hostilities until a compromise can be effected. The Charleston Courier, of Wednesday, says: A detachment of the Richardson Guards, Captain C. H. Axson, left last night on the Northeastern Railroad for Richmond, Va.--The remainder will follow to-day. The gallant Second Regiment, Capt. J. B.
