The late fight at Baton Rouge. Jackson, Aug. 12. --The Federal troops have taken possession of Bayou Sara. Gen. Breckinridge has issued a congratulatory address to his army. He claims to have gained a complete victory by land at Baton Rouge — the most essential fruits of which, however, are lost by the failure of the Arkansas to co-operate. All accounts agree in saying that the Yankees were beaten to and into the river. Our wounded are doing well. Yankee prisoners continue to arrive here.
Capture of Federal couriers with dispatches. Chattanooga, Aug. 12. --Four Federal couriers with dispatches from Gen. Nelson, at McMinnville, to Gen. Buell, have been captured. The dispatches have been handed to the military authorities here. Nelson complains that his pickets habitually desert to be paroled by the Confederates, and represents that affairs in his department are in a deplorable condition.
