without a route agent. The steamboat Portsmouth, of the same line, used as a freight boat, was also seized by the same authority. With regard to military movements elsewhere, we find the following reported by telegraph: Annapolis, May 4.--The New Jersey volunteers, in from ten to thirteen schooners, are hourly expected at Annapolis. The facilities for transportation are quite complete between Annapolis and Perryville. The passage is made in three and a half hours. Twelve stesterday. The Governor has made a requisition for 1,000 rifles. Eight or nine hundred rifles and muskets are now in Wilmington, which, when added to the one thousand called for, will place the State in a condition of defence. Indianapolis, May 4.--The Legislature has authorized the Governor to call six regiments into the immediate service of the State. All are to be in camp by Tuesday. It seems that McBride refused to pay the lawyer's fee after he was released from the clutches of the law, and on Wednesday last a portion of his property was being sold to satisfy the claim. During the evening Green had occasion to pass by McBride's house, when the latter discharged a gun heavily loaded with buckshot, wounding Green, it is feared, fatally. When the authorities undertook to arrest the would be murderer, he boldly announced that he was armed with three revolvers and a gun and would kill any man who attempted his arrest; he said he had powder enough to blow up the dwelling and would do so if they did not desist. Orders were given to capture him dead or live, when he fired again and wounded a man named Lewis, dangerously if not fatally. The desperado then closed the last act in the dreadful drama by shooting himself dead with a revolver.--Wheeling Union, May 4.

y 5, we learn that-- Corporal Needham, mortally wounded at Baltimore, was a member of the Universalist Church in Lawrence, and highly esteemed as a citizen. His funeral on Saturday, conducted by the City Government of Lawrence, was attended by the Fire Department, several military companies, and many thousand citizens of Lawrence and the adjoining towns. Three volleys of musketry were fired over his tomb. A monument will be erected to his memory. A dispatch from Toronto, Canada, May 4, says: It is reported that the Americans are enlisting recruits for the Federal Army here. Detectives are investigating the matter, and they will be arrested if discovered. The New York papers of Saturday furnish the following as one of the results of the war: The imports of foreign dry goods at this port continue light, and the aggregate for the past month shows a still farther material falling off; the entries for consumption during the past four weeks fall nearly three m
