Organized, Company A at Yankton, D. T., April, 1862.
Company B at Sioux City, Iowa, March 31, 1863.
Assigned to duty in the District of Iowa and Dakota Department of the Northwest, defending frontiers and operating — against Indians.
Participated in Sully's Expedition against hostile Sioux Indians in Dakota July 25 to Oct. 8, 1864, wth engagements at Tah-kah-a-kuty July 28, and at Two Hills, Bad Lands, Little Missouri River August 8-9.
Mustered out Co. A May 9, 1865, Co. B Nov. 15, 186
