d by Mr. Christian, of Augusta, providing for an amendment to the Constitution, was introduced; but afterwards withdrawn by the author. Mr. Lewis asked for and obtained leave to present a bill to amend and reenact the first and third sections of an act passed March 29th, 1862, entitled an act to suspend sales and legal proceedings on certain cases, and to repeal an ordinance to provide against the sacrifice of property, and to suspend proceedings in certain cases, passed on the 30th day of April, 1861, by the convention of Virginia. Read the first time and ordered to a second reading. Mr. Lewis also called up the resolutions in response to the answer given by the Federal Government to the commissioners sent by the Confederate Government to treat for peace. The resolutions were read the second time and passed. A communication from the Governor, in relation to the inadequate fees of inspectors of tobacco throughout the Commonwealth, and recommending an increase thereof,
