The Senate was called to order at 10 o'clock, Mr. Johnson in the chair.
Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Moore.
A communication from the House was rend, announcing the passage of the Senate bill providing for the correction of erroneous assessments, with an amendment, which was concurred in; also, House bill imposing taxes for the support of Government.

On motion, the tax bill was laid on the table and ordered to be printed.
Bills Reported.--Authorizing the city of Portsmouth to issue coupon bonds; amending the 15th section of chapter 109 of the Code of Virginia, (2d edition;) amending the 55th section of chapter 171 of the Code of Virginia; incorporating the Bank of Parkersburg, in the county of Wood; authorizing the Petersburg Railroad Company to increase their capital stock.

The House was called to order at 11 o'clock, by Mr. Tomlin, of King William.
The passage of a number of bills by the Senate was communicated from that body.-- The House agreed to Senate amendments to bill establishing branches of the Merchants' Banks at certain places.
Senate Bills Passed.--Senate bills were passed as follows: Enforcing
the payment of balances due from Commissioners upon forfeited and delinquent lands; incorporating the Rockbridge White Sulphur Springs Company; amending the act incorporating the Mason City Mining and Manufacturing Company, in Mason county; providing for the voluntary enslavement of certain free negroes of Fauquier county; incorporating the Virginia Mineral Oil and Coal Company, in Mason county; incorporating the Jackson County Agricultural Society; providing for the voluntary enslavement of certain free negroes in Hanover county.

Tuesday, March 12, 1861.
The Convention was called to order at the usual hour, Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Petersin, of St. James (Episcopal) Church.
Voice of the people.
Mr. Goggin presented the proceedings of two meetings held in the county of Bedford.
upon the subjects now distracting the country Both declare a purpose to resist coercion, and favor the secession of Virginia.
Mr. Goggin endorsed the high character of the officers of the meetings, and asked the reference of the papers to the Committee on Federal Relations.
They were so referred.
Mr. Sheffey presented the proceedings of a meeting lately held in Smyth county, favoring preparation for resistance to coercion, declaring secession expedient, complimenting South Carolina, &c., and endorsing the course of their delegate in the Convention.
