She has done excellent work in connection with the Register, and articles from her pen have been most interesting and valuable. She had been the efficient secretary of her Chapter since its formation, and by experience and interest in the work is well equipped for the responsibilities of the Regent's office. in the list of patriots lending their money to the government between 1777 and 1779 for the prosecution of the war, who later exchanged the bills of credit for the bonds of the then unstable national government, is found the name of only one Medford man, Richard Hall. Besides standing ready to aid his struggling country, he served his town in the various capacities of selectman, treasurer, clerk, and moderator. May 12, 1760, the town voted to purchase two fire-hooks. These were the first pieces of fire apparatus that the town owned so far as we have any record.
