W. corner of Holyoke and Winthrop streets, which he sold to John Shepard, 6 Dec. 1662. In 1642, besides many other lots of land, he owned about an acre, fronting the Common, which he sold to Harvard College in 1661. Dane Hall stands on the southerly part of this lot. He d. 21 Feb. 1662-3, a. about 68. His w. Elizabeth d. 2 Jan. 1663-4. In her will, dated 16 Dec. 1663, she devises house to John Bridge, Sen., who seems to have been her brother, and trifling legacies to a large number of friends, but does not mention any children. Among these bequests was the following: I give to Mr. [Stephen] Day twenty shillings in old iron and leaden weights, and if they will not reach it, to make it up in some other things that will sute him; but he is not to have them except he mend the cob-irons.
