The small pox is reported to be raging at Staunton and in the surrounding country. An enthusiastic Union demonstration took place in Memphis on the 9th of November. It was rumored in Liverpool on the 29th ult., that a mysterious steamer had just sailed from the Mersey "on a trial trip" It was reported, and believed by many, that the vessel is a sister ship to the notorious "290," alias the Alabama. The case of George L. Sanderson, charged with robbing Michael Raffo of $80, was called up, and the witnesses not being present, was continued till the next term. The robbery in this case was accomplished by violence, and the prisoner, who with several others did the deed, remained absent from the city for near a year afterwards. Galled Court.--A special session of the Hustings Court, convened at the City Hall at 11 o'clock on Friday, to examine Robert Patterson, charged with the murder of Richard McMullen, a member of the Wise Hussars, on the night of Nov. 9th, near the new Aims-house. It will be remembered that the act was done while McMullen was trying to obtain surreptitious possession of a gross belonging to Patterson. Prisoner was committed for trial before Judge Lyons.
