another reported fight — the Federals Rented, &c.
Nashville, Nov. 29.
--A gentleman who reached here this evening from Clarkesville, Ky., says, that a dispatch had been received there just before he left, from Gen. Forrest which that stated a scouting party of 600 cavalry had attacked the Lincolnites, near Madisonville, Ky., to-day, and completely routed them.
The Federals lost about 80 killed; but other particulars were not given.
Nashville, Nov. 29.--The Bowling Green correspondent of the Union and American, under date of the 25th November, states that Breckinridge's and Hindman's brigades had both returned to Bowling Green.
Rumors were prevalent that the Federals had crossed green river in large force, but reliable intelligence from that point disproves the accuracy of the rumor.
