xander, from Fort McHenry, has been noticed in our columns, we have been placed in possession of a copy of the Washington National Republican, of the 20th, from which we gather the following Rema: Arrival of the steamship Europa. Halifax, Sept. 18. --The steamship Europa from Liverpool, Saturday, 7th, via Queenstown, Sept. 8th, has arrived at this port. At a meeting of the British Association, Mr. Bazele, of Manchester, read another paper on the cotton question, in which the cole, says that, in view of the present state of things in Europe, it is necessary to evacuate the Tetuan on honorable conditions, in order to allow the concentration of Spanish forces. Massachusetts State Democratic Convention. Worcester, Sept. 18. --The Democratic State Convention met here to-day. Moses Bates was elected President; and, after some preliminary business, the following nominations were made: Isaac Davis, of Worcester, for Governor; Edwin C. Bailey, Lieutenant Governo
