The Federal have effected a lodgment at Roanoke, in North Carolina; they are driving before them the Confederate armies in Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
The capture of 15,000 men, together with the strong position on the Cumberland river, is the greatest advantage that they have yet gained in the war.
