Captain: Enclosed I send you my order for the attack upon Fort Henry.
Owing to despatches received from Major-Gen. Halleck, and corroborating information here, to the effect that the enemy were rapidly reinforcing, I thought it imperatively necessary that the Fort should be carried to-day.
Mll be ordered to report to Flag-Officer Foote, as sharpshooters, on board the gunboats.
