Court proceedings. Mayor's Court, Wednesday, Jan. 7th --The only case before the Court to-day in which white persons were concerns, was that of John Cummings and Patrick McNamara, who were arrested on Tuesday evening by the police charged with taking from the Central Depot three cannon balls, worth $15 belonging to the Confederate States. The evidence of felonies intent was wanting, and the Mayor discharged the accused from custody. A number of colored subjects were ordered a punishment for various petty offences not worth mentioning. Richmond Circuit Court.--This tribunal, Hon. John A Meredith presiding, has been in session for several days past attending to civil business. The City Sergeant has been ordered by the Judge to hold an election on the 15th inst., to supply the vacancy occasioned by the death of James Ellett, late Clerk of the Court, who while acting as 1st Lieutenant of the Crenshaw Battery, was killed in the battle of Fredericksburg. Southern Association Dispatchesfurther Northern news. Resignation of Lincoln's Secretary of the Interior--a New rebel privateer out. Petersburg, Jan. 7. --The Philadelphia Inquirer, of the 4th inst., has been received at Ivor Station. It has no general news of importance, but contains some items of interest. The Paris correspondent of the New York Commercial under date of December 15th, says there is no doubt that a secret league exists between Mr. Slidell and the French Government, Slidell being naturally interested in affairs at New Orleans, where his property has been confiscated; and the French Government looking upon Louisiana as almost a French province. The arrival of a French fleet at New Orleans was received with great joy by the Southerns, and the official journals in Paris announced the fact in terms which would have been offensive to any Government but that of the United States. Important from the Southwest reported captured of Trenton, Union City, and Humboldt. Mobile Jan. 7. --The Mobile Advertiser and Register has just received a dispatch, dated Gronads, the 6th inst, which says that an aid of Gen. Forrest arrived there on the evening of the 6th, who reports the capture of Trenton. Union City, and Humboldt with over two thousand prisoners, two pleases of artillery, and a large amount of commissary stores. The attack on Jackson was a feint to cover their operations. The railroad is destroyed between Jackson and Columbus.
