Out with the old...

Hello it´s me, the Guinea Pig Prince!

Mom had a big birthday but she can´t help it so we will not sort her out.

She refused a big party and prefered to have the same procedure as every year what means she invited her friends for some cake and for dinner.

I started to sort out old stuff to do her a favor. It was hard work.

"Gorillas im Nebel" went back on the bookshelf because Mom loves it so much.

I thought helping paws arrived to support me.

But look what a big mess the ChinChins did with their sand bath!

And Hoppel was such a lazy bone!

But back to the post title I choosed for today, out with the old and in with the new....

We got a flour mill / oatmeal press.

Mom just fills in the oat on top and out comes the yummy fresh breakfast for her. And for me. Hehehe.

We will now give new recipies a try. And we keep you posted!

A birthday, the first snow and a little lie

Eines dieser kleinen Schweinchen wurde vor zwei Wochen 9 Jahre alt. 

Alle drei Babies kamen am gleichen Tag zur Welt. Die Freude war sehr groß damals.

Two weeks ago one of this small guinea pigs had its 9th birthday. 

All three babies were born the same day.  It was such a big joy. 

Nun ratet mal, welches Geburtstag hatte.

Now guess which one had its birthday.

Ja, es war der Schweineprinz.

Yes, it was the Guinea Pig Prince.

 Letzten Samstag hatten wir 26°C und herrlichen Sonnenschein.

Heute haben wir 1,8°C und die ersten Schneeflocken fallen.  

Last saturday we had 78,8°F and it was wonderful sunny.

Today we have 35,2°F and the first snowflakes are falling.

Winter trifft Frühling. 

Überall auf der Terrasse wuchsen in den letzten Wochen Hornveilchen.

Winter meets spring. 

The past few weeks this small violets grow all over the terrace.

Die letzte Paprika muss wohl in der Küche nachreifen und die Tomaten kann ich jetzt getrost abräumen...

The last pepper will probably get ripe in the kitchen and it´s high time to remove the tomatoes.

Diese frostige Schönheit habe ich im Nachbargarten entdeckt. Ich fotografiere öfter mal über den Zaun, da wundert sich niemand mehr :-)

I found this frozen beauty in my neighbors garden. I often do photos while hanging over the fence so nobody is wondering about :-)

Diese beiden wohnen in meinem Garten und  wollen über Winter ins Warme.

This two live in my garden but prefer to spent the winter at a warm and dry place.

Bei dem nasskalten Wetter braucht man was Warmes zum Essen.

When it´s wet and cold outside you need a good hot meal.

Selbstgemachte Nudeln. Sehr zeitaufwändig. Aber lecker!

Selfmade pasta. Took me hours. But they are tasty!

 Keine Ahnung wie diese Nudelpackung in den Mull kommt....

I haven´t got a clue why there is a pasta packing in the trash can.

Hier seht ihr den Schiefen Turm von Pi s a. Bestehend aus sieben Schüsseln mit liebevoll vorbereiteten Zutaten für unser Mittagessen. Und davor meine Lieblingspilze, Kräuterseitlinge.

Here you see the Leaning Tower of Pi s a. It´s made of seven bowls containing lovingly prepared ingrediants for our lunch. And in front of it my most favorite fungis, King oyster mushrooms.

Ich liebe es, wenn das aufwändige Geschnippel erledigt ist und das eigentliche Kochen losgehen kann. Ich mag es, wenn es in der Pfanne brutzelt und fein riecht.

I love it, when the stressful cut-up-in-small-pieces is done and the real cooking can start. I like to hear the frizzling out of the pan and the delicious flavor.

Ich liebe Salat, wenn alles schön geschnitten ist ( so wie die tolle Gurke ) und er nicht mit einer fetten Soße ertränkt ist. Wenn dann noch etwas Warmes mit auf dem Teller ist, dann ist das ein perfektes Mittagessen für mich.

I love salad, especially if not every part is shredded same size (see the super-duper cucumber) or soaked in a greasy dressing. And if there is also something warm on the plate, its a perfect lunch for me.

Fürs Fleisch bin ich nicht zuständig. Ich bin von zwei sehr guten Köchen umgeben und heute habe ich den Platz in der Küche mit meinem Sohn geteilt. Ich liebe es, mit meinem Sohn zusammen zu kochen!!!

Das ist seine Variante eines gemischten Salates: Salat mit Kalbskotelett.

I´m not responsible for preparing meat. I´m surrounded by two excellent cooks and today I shared the place in the kitchen with my son. I love cooking side by side with my son!!!

This is his his version of a salad capable for lunch: Salad with veal chop.

Samstags gibt es ja immer viel zu tun, zum Beispiel Gartenarbeit. Oder so.

There is always a lot to do on saturdays. Gardening for example. Or so.

Für die, die hart draussen gearbeitet haben :-) gibt es die Beilage für Holzfäller: Ein Rumpsteak.

For those who worked hard outside :-), the salad comes with the lumberjack side dish: rump steak.
