ProfileMapThe London Borough of Redbridge is located north of the River Thames and to the north-east of the city. It comprises the towns of Ilford, Barkingside, Goodmayes, Seven Kings, Chadwell Heath.

The Borough covers an area of approximately 56.41 sq.km.

The ancient Epping Forest lies partly within the Borough of Redbridge; it is the largest open space in the vicinity of London and Essex. There are many attractions and conservation areas as well as water sports and riverside walks.

Epping Forest lies partly within the Borough of Redbridge; prior to the 17th century this ancient forest was known as Waltham Forest. Henry III gave it legal status as a royal forest in the 12th century, and Henry VIII and Elizabeth I hunted there.

The service industry is the largest sector of the local economy, employing around 75% of all workers.

The name Redbridge is derived from a bridge over the River Roding which was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area made of white stone.
