The King's School was endowed by Richard Fox, Bishop of Winchester in 1528. In the 16th century, Grantham's 'Free Grammar School of King Edward VI' would have taught Latin and Greek to about 20 scholars, most of whom would have been local boys.
The original building where Sir Isaac Newton was taught from 1654 to 1660 (pictured above) is still in use as the school library and Newton's signature can be seen engraved on a windowsill.
Visits can be arranged by appointment.
