American actress Shelley Duvall, best known for films such as The Shining, Annie Hall and Popeye, has died aged 75.
Duvall died in her sleep of complications from diabetes at her home in Blanco, Texas, her long-term partner Dan Gilroy told The Hollywood Reporter.
Gilroy said: "My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us."
"Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley."
Duvall played Wendy Torrance in the iconic 1980 horror film The Shining – directed by Stanley Kubrick.
Over the years, rumours have abounded about Duvall’s struggles on the set of the film, which took a year to complete due to Kubrick’s perfectionism.
