I recently picked up a Tyco Turbo Train off of eBay. It came with the original box which has some neat TT related stuff on it.

The box seems to be from 1988. Things to note:

1. Both the "Turbo Train" set and "Super Turbo Train" set were available at the same time. I always thought one replaced the other!

2. The turbo train loop is advertised as being available separately as an add-on to your turbo train set.

3. The chrome TT available as an add-on.

It's neat that Tyco sold a whole line of Turbo Trains. I always thought one offering replaced the last.

The Nite Glow ad is actually for the pieces included in the "Turbo Train" set. Two full sets, and three trains available

The box is dated 1988...the freight should have been available at that point Here's the front if anyone's interested:

Look at how they spelled "streamliner" above the train

Wow! Is it common for items up north to have French and English printed on them? I wouldn't have guessed that something like a toy box would have both. In the bottom right corner, what's "Irwin"?

Turbo Train runs on HO train track. What did Tyco call something similar, came out around the same time, looked like a train, but ran on HO slot car track? I have some kind of slot car set where I think the "trains" are in Santa Fe warbonnet paint.

That was also a turbo train, but for slot car track. It came in black and the Santa Fe. There's some special promo "shots" of these bodies on Ebay in different colors, too. Just bare shells, but in different colors. There was recently a Chessie set of this on Ebay, sold for very good money, I guess another promo shot that never sold by Tyco.

Wrong, Jerry The black one was Pennsylvania Railroad. Santa Fe was like the freight TT Wore the same paint logos
Slot car ones used the same chassis as the race cars

I live in Ottawa and I bought the set from a guy in Montreal. Everything in Canada has to have French writing on the box. I have a number of Tyco boxes with French on them.

Tyco made different versions of the Turbo Train. The "Twin Turbos" set featured a pair of trains that ran on slotcar track. As stated, the set came with a black Pennsylvania train and a silver/red Santa Fe train. The orange Chessie train was available separately.

ACTUALLY THE PICTURE ABOVE IS A PICTURE OF MY TRAIN I HAVE HERE. IT IS A TRUE DECO MASTER FROM THE TYCO MODEL SHOP, SHOULD BE FROM 1989. THIS EXACT SPECIMEN IS SEEN ON PAGE 51 OF THE TYCO GUIDE FROM 1997 BY DAN ESPOSITO. NOTE AND COMPARE MY PIC W/ PIC ABOVE AND NOTE THE "h" IN "CHESSIE" IS PARTIALLY MISSING AND THE DOUBLE SMALL "ii" IN "CHESSIE" ALSO. ON THE DECO MASTERS THE LOGOS AND LETTERS WERE STENCILS , AND THE PAINT JOBS WERE HAND PAINTED. THE MOULD FOR THE DECO MASTER HAS A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE ALSO. COOL STUFF!!

THIS MODEL SHOULD BE FROM 1989, ON THE PRODUCTION SETS FOR THESE THEY CAME W/ SPECIAL 1 LANE TRACK. SEE MY NEW PIC BELOW, ALTHOUGH IT LOOKS BLOWN UP AND BLURRY.
