Here is my latest sock pattern, these are done on size 2 needles using Patons Kroy sock yarn. I added a band of alternating slip 1, knit 1 for a row and knit one rows for 12 rows on the foot of the sock. I had intended this band to fall along the arch of the foot, but it ended up closed to the ball of my foot.
So here is my patterm WITHOUT the band in the sock:
Cast on 64 stitches: 32 on needle one, 16 on needle 2 and 3:
Start with pattern stitch on needle one:
Pattern Stitch:
P1, K1, P2, K8, P2, K1, P1 for 2 rows
P1, K1, P12, K1, P1 for 2 rows
P1, K1, P2, K8, P2, K1, P1 for 2 rows
P1, K1, P12, K1, P1 for 2 rows
P1, K1, P2, K8, P2, K1, P1 for 2 rows
K4, P2, K1, P2, K1, P2, K4 for 2 rows
P6, K1, P2, K1, P6 for 2 rows
K4, P2, K1, P2, K1, P2, K4 for 2 rows
P6, K1, P2, K1, P6 for 2 rows
K4, P2, K1, P2, K1, P2, K4 for 2 rows
Repeat these 20 rows until you have the desired leg length, I repeated the pattern 3 times.
Turn work and start on heal.
S1, P31, Turn
*S1,K1* repeat across, turn
Repeat the two rows 14 more times—30 rows total
Turn to work on the heal:
Heal Turn:
S1,P16,P2tog,P1, turn
S1,K3,SSK,K1,turn
S1,P4,P2Tog,P1, turn
S1,K5,SSK,K1,turn
Continue in this manner until all the stitches are worked.
You should have 18 stitches on the needle
With an empty needle, pick up 16 stitches along heel flap (now needle 3) , continue pattern stitch along needle 1, pick up 16 stitches along other side of heal flap and knit the next 9 stitches (now needle 2), move remaining 9 stitches are on needle 3, 25 stitches on needles 2 and 3, 32 stitches in needle 1.
Start the decrease:
Row 1: With needle 3, knit to last three stitches, K2Tog, K1. With needle 1, continue pattern stitch. With needle 2, K1, slip the next stitch, K1, and pass the slipped stitch over the K stitch and Knit until end
Row 2: Knit on needle 3, continue pattern on needle 1, Knit on needle 2
Repeat these two rows until you have 16 stitches on needles 2 and 3 (64 Total)
Continue row 2 until you have desired foot length, ending on needle 2
To make the toe:
first row:
starting with needle 3, Knit until you get to the last three stitches, K2tog and K the last stitch.
On needle one K1, slip the next stitch, K1, and pass the slipped stitch over the K stitch. Knit until the last three stitches, then K2tog, K1.
On need two K1, slip the next stitch, K1, and pass the slipped stitch over the K stitch and Knit until end
Second row:
Knit on all three needles
repeat row one and two until half (32) stitches remain. Continue to knit the stitches on needle 3 onto needle 2 so you have 16 stitches onto two needles.
Close with kitcheners stitch.
