Good evening: I have a post up comparing the fighters, scouts, and pursuit ships of three spaceship miniatures lines: link

Thanks for the comparison shots. The freighters, farther along in the blog, look quite nice.

You're welcome, Vosper! I want to get those Federation frigates painted for some comparison shots with the Fed destroyers and battleship.

I have a BUNCH of Star Frontiers ships that need to be painted.

They are some great looking retro style ships.

I need to get them on the paint table soon, I must have 40-50 ships.

A few years back they were super cheap on e-Bay, and a TMP memeber sold me a HUGE lot of them.

DesertScrb have you seen the StarBlazers Fighters or Battlecraft as they're called?

They make Battlecraft for the 4 main races and a pack of Battlecraft is about $5.00 USD or $6.00 USD and each pack varies in the number of that you get in the pack.

For example the Earth Battlecraft packs has 24 and that gives you 12 Fighters(6 of each type)and two other types of craft the size is about 3/8 inches or so.

Just my 2 cents.

Star Blazers fighters are $8 USD a pack these days, with 18-24 fighters per pack. GZG makes dozens of different fighter designs, all about the same size as the larger Stardate: 3000 types and running about $2 USD for 6 minis after shipping to the US. Brigade Models fighters are very similar, both in terms of price and size – not quite as much variety, but the styles are very compatible with GZGs. Studio Bergstrom's "fleet scale" fighter range has a decent variety of sculpts, many setting-specific, some original, mostly $3.30 USD per 6 minis – they tend to be a little bulkier than GZG's, but there are variations.

You can also find the old Babylon 5 Fleet Action/ACTA fighter packs on the secondary market (including straight from the remains of the Agents of Gaming website) for varying amounts – they're size compatible with all the above but use a slightly different basing style.

While we are talking about comparisons:

Anyone got pics of B5 Wars vs B5 ACTA fleet action fighters side by side?

I like the detail of the B5 wars models and they would be fun to paint, but I suspect would look far to large next to a GZG cruiser, for example.

However, from the pics I can find the FA scale ones look a little blobby, except for the Starfuries which look about right.

Thanks, Captain Gideon and Battle Works, I'll have to check out your suggestions.

After a little bit of googling, I collated everyone's suggestions for smaller fighter minis and added links in this new post: link

Thanks again for your help.

You're quite welcome DesertScrb I'm really into StarBlazers to the tune of 500 plus ships right now,I'm quite the fan of this show.
