In My Mailbox (12)

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren. It's a weekly showcase of the contents of our mailboxes!

This was a good book week for me! I can't wait to dig in :0)
I was going to attempt a vlog this week, but I'm still not 100% sure how
to do one, maybe next week :0)

Won:
"The Catastrophic History of You & Me" by Jess Rothenberg (I won this one from Jess and she signed it, so cool!)
*The second one you see there, I got from LibraryThing a few weeks ago, so I'll be having a giveaway for that one coming up soon :0)*
(Also, I have already read this and I loved it! I'll be posting a review closer to it's release next year, but it's really, really good!)

Review:
"On A Dark Wing" by Jordan Dane (I'll be a part of the blog tour for this one in December!)
"Where It Began" by Ann Redisch Stampler

Bought:
"Destined" by Jessie Harrell
"Harmonic Feedback" by Tara Kelly (I really liked Amplified, so I knew I just had to check out this one!)

*Thanks to HarlequinTeen, Simon & Schuster and NetGalley*

Shatter Me Giveaway

Hey guys! I just finished Shatter Me and I am blown away! I liked it so much, I want to spread the love.

SO...I'm giving away my ARC copy to one lucky winner :0)

I'll pick the winner on November 18th, 2011 and contact them by email.
The winner will have 48 hours to respond, if I don't hear from them, I will pick a new winner!

Good Luck Ya'll :0)

Such a pretty, pretty cover...

I'll admit it, I judge books by their covers. I am more inclined to find out what a book is about if it has a really pretty cover and I know it's not fair, but that's just how it goes. Bright colors and pretty pictures call to me :0) SO...I wanted to compile a couple of the best covers I've seen for upcoming books, because why not share the pretty!?

"The Catastrophic History of You & Me" by Jess Rothenberg
*Release Date: February 21st, 2012*

This one didn't just get me with the cover, it also got me with the title. I am instantly intrigued when a book has a long title (this goes for songs, too) and this one also has the word catastrophic! Catastrophic is just a really good word.

While I liked the original cover for this book, this new cover is even prettier! It has an ethereal look to it and the title font even looks kind of floaty. As an added bonus, the story sounds crazy, good! This is definitely one for the bookshelf instead of the nookshelf :0)

"Arcadia Awakens" by Kai Meyer
*Release Date: February 14th, 2012*

The bright green snake on this one is what pulled me in. It's all exotic and intimidating. And the description talks about mafia's and mortal enemies, which I love. I'm still unclear where and if the snake fits in, but I will definitely be reading it to find out.

I also really like that everything is really dark and shadowy on the cover, except the snake and the title. The bright green draws the eye, but the shadows give it some mystery. Very pretty, indeed!

Best of the Bunch: October 2011

Best of the bunch is a monthly meme hosted by Lyrical Reviews. It spotlights our very favorite, out of all the books we've read each month.

I have read a lot of great books this month, again, but picking the best of the bunch was a no-brainer! It's a contemp and it's not out quite yet, but it's so fantastic and everyone should read it as soon as they get a chance :0)

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18B. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

This book was completely smile inducing! I am wholly convinced that this could actually happen to anyone who is open to it. It gives you hope and makes you believe in all kinds of love :0)
I hope everyone else had a great reading month, too!

"The Iron Knight" by Julie Kagawa

Release Date: October 25th, 2011
Publisher: HarlequinTeen
Format: eGalley
Age Group: Young Adult

My name—my True Name—is Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn.
I am the last remaining son of Mab, Queen of the Unseelie Court. And I am dead to her.

My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl…

This is, without question, my favorite book in the series. I liked Meghan as the main point of view of the first three books, but as it turns out, I like Ash's point of view even more. Even though he started opening up a little more as the series went along, we never really got to know Ash until this book. Despite his flaws, and the horrible things he has done in his past, getting to see this part of the story from his viewpoint ended up making me love him more. I also felt like we got to know Puck a little better through Ash's point of view. They've been friends and enemies for longer than anyone can even try and comprehend, so even though they may not always like each other, they still know each other really well. It was weird not really having Meghan around for most of this book, but it was nice to see the guys interact without her presence affecting them.

This story had a lot going on. The gang went on a long trek through the darkest and scariest parts of the
