New Customer FAQs

What does your business need before signing up?

A wireless internet connection that is at least 2.5 Mbps. If you don’t have internet, sign up for TELUS Office Internet and when you do, you’ll save $10 on your TELUS Secure Business monthly bill.

Will my existing security system work with TELUS Secure Business?

It depends. A TELUS Business agent can happily assess whether you can use existing hardware.

What if I don’t want a 3-year service commitment, can I take a 2 or 1 year commitment?

Only 3-year commitments are available at this time. If you wanted to end your service early, you would have to pay the remaining months of the agreement.

What if I move during my 3 year service agreement?

You will have to pay an installation charge so one of our technicians can install your service at your new location. This charge will vary depending on what needs to be moved, please contact us to find out more.

You also have the option of transferring the service to the new occupants/residents. If that’s not possible, a cancellation fee will apply.

What if I want to add more hardware to my package such as additional cameras?

You can always add additional equipment and services (additional charges may apply)

What if a piece of hardware breaks during my 3 years commitment?

While on contract all technical issues will be corrected by TELUS, certain restrictions may apply.

Do I need to apply for a security permit?

Yes, most municipalities in Canada require each business to have a security permit in the event emergency crews are dispatched due to an alarm.

Unfortunately, the rules are not the same for every city so it is best to search for your city’s permitting requirements online.

Do I need to display my permit?

Refer to local municipality rules & guidelines.

What is an insurance certificate and what does it do?

Having a monitored security system from TELUS can reduce insurance rates. If your insurance company offers such a discount, you can use your monthly bill issued to you as proof of the system.

Does my business need a custom security system set-up?

If your premises are in need of any of the following, please contact the TELUS Custom Security System team at 1-855-909-8277 to assess your installation needs:

- Hardwired security system or hardwired smoke sensor
- Continuous security monitoring for 5 partitions
- At least 10,000 square feet
- 8 Security cameras or more

Customers will be charged a rescheduling fee of $199 if the customer fails to be at the scheduled appointment time and/ or does not provide 24 hours notice in advance to reschedule. Charges for installation fees are subject to change without notice. TELUS reserves the right to withdraw or modify this offer at any time. The Smart Camera plan includes one of the following wireless cameras: HD Wireless Outdoor Security Camera, HD Wireless Indoor Security Camera, Slimline Doorbell Camera, Round Doorbell Camera. The Smart Camera plan is a self-monitored plan and does not include 24/7 business security monitoring.

Customers who sign a 36-month contract on a TELUS Secure Business Monitor package receive 1 panel, 1 motion sensor and 2 door/window contacts.

To receive 3 first months at $0 and $10 off per month, a customer must purchase TELUS Secure Business Monitor plan in addition to one (1) or more of the following TELUS business products and services: new or existing, Business Internet, TELUS Business Connect, or a Business wireless voice-capable mobility rate plan.
