#Elfie for PP468

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!
It’s time for a new creative challenge over at The Paper Players
This week, Jaydee has a fabulous Clean-and-Simple Theme Challenge for us:
As soon as I saw the theme I knew that I was going to ink up my #Elfie stamp set. I mean, elves are Santa’s little helpers on the North Pole, right? This stamp set is fabulous for coloring, especially with Stampin’ Blends. I inked this little guy up in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and colored him in. When you are coloring with Stampin’ Blends it’s important to use an ink pad that won’t smear with the alcohol-based markers. Momento Ink is perfect!

Color Combo:
When I started creating this card, I focused on the image and the coloring.  When I got that finished, it took everything in my power NOT to overdo it. It IS Clean-and Simple (CAS) week, after all. I simply made this little dude the focal point with a little pop of pattern from the Night Before Christmas DSP. I REALLY wanted to add embossing to the white background, but decided to just embrace that CAS means “less-is-more”.

You know what? I really liked how it turned out! I hope you do, too.

Card Measurements:
  • Cherry Cobbler Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11, scored at 5-1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper - 1-3/4” x 5-1/4”
  • Cherry Cobbler Cardstock  - 3-1/8” x 4-1/8”
  • Whisper White Cardstock - 3” x 4”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (for sentiment) - 1-3/4” x 1/2”
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4”
  • Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1” x 5-1/4”
Of course, I couldn’t resist the little details. I added some Wink of Stella to this little dude’s trim on his coat and hat. I also addd it to the little ornament. I also popped on two rhinestone “buttons” colored with the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Marker because let’s face it, every elf needs some bling.
Finally, a peek inside the card, simply dressed up with a little pop of DSP and a coordinating sentiment and image from the set.

I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your project for our CAS Theme Challenge. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday November 22nd, 2019.

Day of Thanks for FF0047

Welcome to another Festive Friday Challenge! for #FF0047, our festivity is Thanksgiving, which is on Nov 28th.  Our Inspo List features 10 items you can choose from to create your project. Incorporate THREE (or more) of the items in your project and link up to the challenge! And guess what? Your project doesn’t have to be about Thanksgiving – at all! I actually decided to feature the festivity for this one because I needed a few more Thanksgiving cards to send. The selected festivity is just a unique way to come up with some fun and interesting ideas to inspire your creativity!
For my card, I incorporated the following elements from the Inspo List:
Thankful Theme - Leaves - Glitter - Cranberry - Gold - Twine

Once I saw the list, I immediately knew my favorite fall stamp set would be making an appearance again. Gather Together with the coordinating Gathered Leaves Dies were just sitting on the corner of my desk, so I didn’t have to go far to find them. This has to be one of my FAVORITE bundles from the Stampin’ Up!® Holiday Catalog, I’ve used it a LOT. I decided to pair them up with the sentiment from Day of Thanks (that font…swoon!!) and some “branch" accents from the All Around Wreath Dies.

Color Combo:

A couple of tips for the Gathered Leaves Dies, when you are die cutting the leaves with the embossed detail, it is best to spritz your cardstock with water first. That way, you get a detailed embossed image and almost a two-toned effect on the cardstock. After I die cut the two Cajun Craze leaves, I added some Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for extra detail.

For the larger leaf and the sentiment, I decided to heat emboss the stamped images in gold to make the card a little more fancy. The pop of shine adds so much detail!
The Crumb Cake Cardstock layer and the sentiment layer were sponged with Crumb Cake ink for a little more detail. It kind of gives it a “weathered” look which I think works with this fall theme. I also colored three little rhinestones with the Cajun Craze Dark Stampin’ Blend so they coordinated with the card. They pack some sparkle but still blend with the color combo. To finish the card, I popped on a double bow in Cajun Craze twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack

 Card Measurements:
  • Merry Merlot Card Base - 5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock (edges sponged with Crumb Cake ink) - 5-1/4” x 4”
  • Come to Gather Designer Series Paper - 5-1/8” x 3-7/8”
  • Crumb Cake Cardstock (sentiment) - 3-1/4” x 7/8”
  • Scraps of Gold Glimmer, Merry Merlot and Cajun Craze Cardstock for die cutting
  • Whisper White Cardstock (inside card) - 5-1/4” x 4”
Finally, here is a not-so-great photo of the inside of the card. I took the photo, realized I didn’t like it…then apparently rubbed my eye and somehow smudged mascara inside the card. Y'all, WHO does this? *shakes head* But you get the general idea. A coordinating sentiment from the Gather Together stamp set and then a little leaf accent in Cajun Craze ink with some little stamped accents in Crumb Cake ink.

Hop on over to the Festive Friday Challenge to see what the rest of the Design Team  shared this week. We’d love to have you join us with your project! The challenge is open from today through Monday November 25th at 8:00 PM CST, so you have plenty of time to play along.
