Local Comic Shop Day has moved to Sept. 28, as the comic shop celebration re-configures going forward! We will have a limited release of “Gone” #1 from DSTLRY to celebrate Local Comic Shop Day and some other special surprises!

Local Comic Shop Day is an event that calls attention to independent comic book specialty stores, celebrating their role as pop culture fire-starters. On Sept. 28, 2024, stop by Speeding Bullet Comics for specials and exclusive items and join in the celebration.

In connection with Pioneer Library: In this program, we will be discussing “The Good Asian.”
Follow Edison Hark, a haunted, self-loathing Chinese-American detective, as he pursues a brutal killer on the streets of 1936 San Francisco. THE GOOD ASIAN is a noir mystery exploring the first generation of Americans to come of age under an immigration ban-the Chinese-as they’re besieged by rampant murders, abusive police, and a world that seemingly never changes.
Designed for adults, this event starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Batman Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of September of every year and will be landing on September 21st in 2024.

We will host the Speeding Bullet Comics 26th-anniversary celebration on June 15 with multiple signings and art pop-up events!

Oklahoma comic creators Jared Blount and Tyler Kelting of “Strange Animals” will sign from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 at Speeding Bullet Comics as part of the store’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Author Chuck Miller will also be on hand from noon-3 p.m. June 15 to sign his works! Miller most recently wrote the novel “Kolchak – The Ripper” in which the Kolchak, the Night Stalker character faces off against a seemingly immortal Jack the Ripper.

Pop-up art events at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. will be hosted by artists Phillip Hollecker and Mike Kennedy. They’ll showcase some of their quick-draw sketch skills and be on hand to offer tips and tricks to aspiring artists as well!

Thanks for supporting us for 26 years! Matt & Annette took over the former Norman Archives and Millennium Books on June 8, 1998! Matt had previously worked at the Archives as a high school student and was excited to return to comics retail as an owner, along with Annette, who brought her style and retail expertise to the enterprise as well! Twenty-six years and three kids later we are excited to continue the experience along with longtime manager Dan Nash, who has been part of the Speeding Bullet staff for over 20 years himself! Welcome Oklahoma comic book creators Robert Henry and Dirk Hooper to sign copies of the Halloween-themed “Bad Candy” comic book! They’ll be at Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, Oklahoma, from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Henry is a photographer, artist, and Oklahoma native with comic-book credits including the “Rough Cut” comic book series of the 1990s.

Dirk Hooper is a professional artist, award-winning professional writer, award-winning photographer, audio talent, podcasting producer and host, journalist, mentor, and personal branding and marketing consultant. He’s the cover artist on “Bad Candy”#3.

Henry originally conceived of the pumpkin-headed Halloween character as an “Inktober” sketch in 2015. “Inktober” is a challenge where artists draw a sketch each day of October, often based on a specific prompt.

The series, set in 1982, features the farming family the Lewises, who provide an offering to a spirit known as Bad Candy each October. But when bank robbers on the run take over the Lewis’ house, the offering isn’t made, and trouble ensues.

Adams recently reported that his comics series from Keenspot is in development for an animated series.

Matt had previously worked at the Archives as a high school student and was excited to return to comics retail as an owner, along with Annette, who brought her style and retail expertise to the enterprise as well! Free Comic Book Day returns to Speeding Bullet Comics on May 6, 2023!

The shop at 614 N Porter Ave. in Norman, OK, will be open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and will give away 5 selected free comics per customer throughout the day.
The store also will welcome special guest Justin Nimmo, the Silver Ranger from “Power Rangers in Space,” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Nimmo is probably best-known as Zhane the Silver Ranger from “Power Rangers in Space.” He’ll be signing at Speeding Bullet Comics as part of our Silver Anniversary celebration for 2023, on the biggest comic-book day of the year, Free Comic Book Day!

The character of Zhane has recently appeared in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” #100, as well as storylines in the “Power Rangers” and “Power Rangers Unlimited” series of comic books.

Free Comic Book Day, held annually on the first Saturday in May, is a worldwide event in which participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away selected comic books absolutely free to visiting patrons.

We will have free comics featuring Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Spider-Man and more! Don’t miss this great celebration!

Several Oklahoma independent bookstores, including Speeding Bullet Comics, are teaming up to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day on April 29. While supplies last, from April 22-29, request a passport book from one of the participating indie bookstores listed below.

Over the weekend of April 29-30, for every three shops you visit, you will be entered to win a raffle prize. If you fill your entire passport you get an extra entry! No purchase is necessary to get your passport stamped, but you’ll likely find some great books at these locations! Raffle winners will be contacted the week after the Bookstore Crawl.

Speeding Bullet is excited to announce a signing appearance by actor, stuntman and martial artist Erik Betts of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” at noon Saturday, March 11!

Betts performed as the stunt double for the Red and Green Rangers on the unprecedently popular FOX TV series “The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.”

Betts also portrayed the Putty Patrollers and Pudgy Pig.

Betts was a stunt double for Jason David Frank, and wants to share his experiences with “Power Rangers” fans, while honoring JDF’s legacy and helping provide mental health awareness for anyone struggling.

Erik’s other roles included stunning television audiences as the suavely vicious “Panther” in “WMAC Masters” (1994).

Betts played Agent Brown and other roles on “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” and “Keeper of the Name,” among others, on “Angel.”

His credits also include the films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Avatar, The Last Airbender, The Green Hornet, Fast Five, The Fate of the Furious, and Lady Gaga’s music video “G.U.Y.”
