Bringing valuable information to you.SCOUG maintains several mailing lists to keep you up-to-date between meetings. If you are unfamiliar with mailing lists, please read this tutorial. In addition to subscribing to the email lists (described below), you can also view the archives maintained for each list. SCOUG-ANNOUNCE is for periodic announcements such as upcoming meetings. This list does not permit posting. SCOUG-GENERAL is for general discussion between members between meetings. Everyone is welcome to post to this list. SCOUG-HELP is an open discussion list for asking questions about using, installing and configuring OS/2. SCOUG-PROGRAMMING includes discussion on SIG projects and general OS/2 programming. To subscribe to a SCOUG mailing list, send a message to majormajor@scoug.com. You can leave the subject blank. In the message body, put the command SUBSCRIBE SCOUG-ANNOUNCE END or if you want to subscribe to SCOUG-HELP SUBSCRIBE SCOUG-HELP END That's it! You will receive a confirmation message by email. A Brief Introduction to Mailing ListsA mailing list is a convenient way for a group of people to keep in touch. Individuals subscribe to a list to indicate that they are interested in receiving email messages about the topic of the list. When a member sends an email to the list (such as scoug-general@scoug.com), the email is sent to all of the members of the list.To subscribe and unsubscribe from a list, send messages to majormajor@scoug.com indicating the mailing you wish to subscribe to. Commands are placed in the body of the message. For example, consider the following message: To: majormajor@scoug.com From: john.doe@nowhere.com HELP ENDMajormajor will respond with an email message listing all of the other commands you can use. The two commands you will most likely use is SUBSCRIBE and UNSUBSCRIBE. These commands allow you to add and remove yourself from an email list. To send a message to the list (so everyone on the list will receive it), address your email to scoug-general@scoug.com and write your message as you normally would.
