In Class 6A, Grayson closed out the season No. 1 for the first time after defeating previous No. 1 ranked Carrollton in the finals. Runner-up Carrollton finished at No. 2 and semifinalists Buford and Douglas County lead No. 5 Collins Hill.
No. 1 Milton cemented itself in the history books winning its first back-to-back state titles in program history and finishing a perfect 15-0 in Class 5A. The Eagles will finish as a nationally ranked program. No. 2 Hughes lost to nationally ranked Milton but gave them a fight in the first half and exploded for 35 points. Hughes showcased they can compete with anybody and have one of the better programs in the state under head coach Boone Williams. No. 3 Lee County lost to Milton in the semifinals but were undefeated up until that point. The Trojans had Mr. Georgia winner Ousmane Kromah who led the team deep into the postseason. No. 4 Coffee made a deep run in the postseason but couldn’t slow down the Hughes prolific offense in the semifinals giving up season-high 49 points. The 2023 champions had another successful season. No. 5 Thomas County Central fell to state-champion runner-up Hughes in the quarterfinals and finished the year 11-2. No. 6 Houston County knocked off a No. 1 seed Clarke Central and scored 132 points in its first two playoff games before losing to Milton. No. 7 Sequoyah finished 11-2 before falling to Coffee in a high-scoring contest where both teams combined for 120 points. No. 8 Sprayberry won its first region title since 2008 and made a run to the quarterfinals falling to Lee County. No. 9 Brunswick lost to 2023 champion Coffee in the second round of the postseason after a ten-win season. No. 10 Rome won its fourth consecutive region championship this past season and fell to Thomas County Central in the second round of the playoffs.
North Oconee validated its No. 1 status by defeating Marist 14-7 in the Class 4A finals and finishing the year 15-0. Jonesboro’s impressive season resulted in the Cardinals finishing at No. 10.
In Class 3A, after not making the playoffs for the first time since 1999, No. 1 Calhoun came back with vengeance and won their first state championship since 2017. The Calhoun defense shut down No. 2 Jefferson holding them to 3-10 on third down and just seven points in the win. No. 3 LaGrange lost a close game to Jefferson 21-13 in the semifinals. It was another successful season for the Grangers under head coach Matt Napier. No. 4 Stephenson made a surprise run to the semifinals thanks to their rushing attack led by Anthony Booker and their dominant defense and they will be a team to watch in 2025. No. 5 Peach County lost to eventual state champions Calhoun 38-38 in the quarterfinals. The Trojans were a heavy favorite to win it all and had a bounce-back season under head coach Marquis Westbrook. No. 6 Sandy Creek fell in the second round to LaGrange. No. 7 Cherokee Bluff finished in the quarterfinals and had one of its best seasons in recent memory. No. 8 Oconee County fell to Jefferson 42-6 in the second round. No. 9 Douglass-Atlanta lost to eventual state champion Calhoun in the second round of the playoffs. No. 10 North Hall clinched its first 10-win season since 2011.
In Class 2A, Carver-Columbus finished the year at No. 1 after pummeling the competition in its run to the state title.
In Class A Division I, No. 1 Toombs County cemented itself in history with a phenomenal finish in the state championship in a 38-18 win over No. 2 Northeast. Northeast-Macon made its storied run to the state championship thanks to Nicolas Woodford who finished with 2,603 yards and 37 touchdowns. No. 3 Dublin fell to eventual state champion Toombs County in the semifinals. No. 4 Fannin County went 12-1 before losing in a shootout to Northeast-Macon. No. 5 Fitzgerald also made a run to the semifinals before losing to Northeast. No. 6 Thomasville won five of its last six games to finish off the season before losing to Dublin. No. 7 Worth County won its first region championship since 1989 and lost a nail-biter to Fitzgerald in the quarterfinals. No. 8 Dodge County won nine games for the first time since 2018 making it to the second round of the playoffs. No. 9 Commerce gave us several highlights throughout the season with epic finishes. The Tigers made it to the second round of the playoffs before losing to Toombs County. No. 10 Elbert County had a great playoff run before losing to Toombs County in the quarterfinals.
In Class A Division II, No. 1 Bowdon made history and are now three-time champions after an impressive victory over No. 2 Brooks County. No. 3 Manchester, a heavy preseason favorite to win it all, lost to Brooks County in the semifinals. No. 4 Irwin County led by Shane Marshall has made the semifinals in two of the past three seasons and has been close to winning a state championship. The Indians fell to Bowdon in the semifinals after another great season. No. 5 Trion had its deepest run in the postseason since 2012 after having back-to-back 10-win seasons. No. 6 Clinch County fell to Bowdon in the quarterfinals and has won 10 or more games in the past three seasons. No. 7 Lincoln County finished the season with one loss for the first time since 2012 when it went 12-1. No. 8 Early County has won eight games in three consecutive seasons and made it to the second round of the playoffs. No. 9 Wilcox County has made the playoffs for seven consecutive seasons and remains a fixture in the postseason. No. 10 Metter has clinched four region championships in the past five seasons and won ten games in the second year of Lee Shaw’s tenure.
In Class 1A-3A Private, Hebron Christian ushered in the (Jonathan) Gess era, capturing its first-ever state title to finish atop the classification.
