Scrap Shotz March Creative Team Reveal

It's time to reveal my creative team projects for the March Scrap Shotz kit the fantastic Teresa Collins  line "Hello My Name Is". Click on the preceding link to see all the kit contents and you can see the add ons here. You will not be disappointed if you are a Teresa Collins like I am and if you're not familiar with her products or on the fence, I think you will fall in love with this line!

So, on to my projects this month :)

First up is this layout which was inspired by the kit "polaroids" paper itself. I busted out my handy dandy square punch and went through my overflowing stack of photos to find photos of all of us that were perfect for the square punch.

I treated each frame as it's own separate space and placed either a photo, embellies, sticker, chipboard or stamped image within. I love how this turned out! I have a 12x12 frame in storage and I just may put this lo in it and hang it in my scraproom.

Next up is this layout  based on the sketch provided by the Scrap Shotz sketch diva Jess Duerksen,

I don't scrap photos of myself much but this line screams out to see the "voice" behind the camera! I have lots of photos of my mom before she was married but very few of her with or just when I was growing up as a child. It's important for the kids to have memories of their mom (&dad) at all stages of their lives.

Now I have a special project I earmarked for this kit when I found out it was coming up. I found this frame at a local discount home store cheap ($10) as it had lost some of it's gems
so I thought it would make the perfect frame for our most recent family photo and replace the missing bling with a combination of rolled paper flowers, kit chipboard and add-on sequins & stickers. I added kit add-on wood elements to the kit chipboard & pp to complete the family photo home decor piece.
This was hard to photograph without getting the photographer in the reflection! Here's a close up!
Our CT showcase project was the Teresa Collins file folders included in the kit. I'm sure many people would use them for a mini-book but no 2 would look the same and that is how I used them as well. Here is my book of favorite photos from 2013:
The red ribbon was from a box of Crave cupcakes I purchased a few years ago. I layed the folders out after adhering the photos and punched two holes with my Crop-A-Dile (12x12 version) then threaded the ribbon through the holes to hold all the folders together and my mini-book was born!
Here are some of the inner pages:

These kit colours are great for any photo and I love how this lo of my dd turned out with them!

I was so excited to play with my newest purchases the Taylored Expressions proud peacock cutting plate and Whispy Whishes stamp. Here is my card created with the March SSZ kit:

My final project was also my March DT Challenge, click here to see the challenge:
My hubby and I don't have too many photos taken together and we really need to do that more often.

This kit is so versatile and easy to use, go to the Scrap Shotz gallery here to see all the fabulous projects the Creative team produced!

Project Life 2014>>Week 6

Hello Project Life Week 6!

Boy the days feel like they're flying by! We're well into the 2nd month of the year and I'm still excited to be doing this project again. I must be honest though, I do usually hit a time of year where I question why I started this project but I'll stay positive and hope I stay enthusiastic the entire year. Starting the year as a member of the Stuck On U Sketches Project Life team sure helps with motivation and really the Project Life Challenges at SOUS are a great way to stay motivated with this  year long project.

Here's my week 6 spread

For this spread I used a variety of items, a filler card from the PL Midnight core kit, SN@P journal cards, MME enamel dots, a Studio Calico mailer card I cut down to 4x6 and the front cover of the program from our church service this week. I also added some word stickers from a past Scrap Shotz kit. One of the interesting things I did here was to cut a 4x6 photo into two 3x4's and place them in side by side pockets. I've seen other people do this and I really like the look.

Thanks for looking!

Stuck On U Sketches Project Life Callenge

It's time for another SOUS Project Life challenge and this week's challenge is

I had an odd number of photos this week, too many to fit on one page but a little skimpy for a two page spread. That's the beauty of "filler" cards, they can fill in the space and keep the spread visually appealing.
The pocket is created from a 4x6 journal card that I folded in half and stapled around the open side and bottom.

The "do it" card is a SN@P journal card I trimmed to fit in the pocket and I punched the top edges with my WRMK envelope punch board to create the pull tab portion. I journaled some of the items from my "to do" list for the week.

That's it for week 5 and the SOUS Project Life challenge. Remember you have a chance to win a great prize from

by completing this challenge or any of the SOUS challenges from the month of February and submitting your project at the SOUS blog.

Scrap Shotz Kit February 2014 Kit Reveal!!

Hello and thank you for stopping by to take in my Scrap Shotz CT February Kit Reveal!

This month's kit is AWESOME, it's brand new from CHA, My Mind's Eye the Izzy line from the Here and Now Collection. There are also a number of great add on's of which I've used in some projects but others are just a great value item so I've added them to my stash for that reason :).

Let's start it off with the CT sketch project for this month, our sketch is by SSZ ambassador and CT member Jess Duerksen

and here is my take on this great sketch

The enamel dots are a kit add on as well as the button in the center of the accent.

In the following layout I fussy cut the triangles from the kit patterned paper. The title "block" is one of the kit 3x4 journal cards. I've added enamel dots and one of the brad/die cut accents along with the kit twine which I've glued down.

The heart cut out background below was cut with my Cameo out of the kit patterned paper and layered over more kit patterned paper. I've added some of the kit chipboard and stickers along with a button from the add on to the layout. The #blessed is stamped with the new Tim Holtz #Hashtags stamp.

This canvas below was a birthday present my daughter gave her friend. It's a 5x7 canvas with smaller 2x2 and 2x4 canvas's layered over patterned paper and accented with kit chipboard, patterned paper and word stickers along with add on washii and enamel dots. I also glued down a brad to the right side of the banner chipboard.

The kit die cut chipboard "Relax and Unwind" was perfect for this Spring Break photo I had from a few years ago, I misted it with Studio Calico Mr.Huey's Sunset mist and topped it with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine White.

This next layout turned out to be a bunch more complicated to create than I anticipated. It took me a few bad cuts to figure out when to work with the reverse side of the stencil but I figured it out...eventually ;)) I LOVE how it turned out, the kit die cuts in the Izzy "Mixed Bag" were the perfect addition to frame my photo.

I ordered & received the brand new Karen Burniston Pop It Ups Lots of Pops die by Elizabeth Craft Designs along with my kit and had lots of fun making this card, here is the front
and here is the showstopper, the inside

I used one the 3x4 journal cards as the base for this next layout. The "captured moments" text is printed on the card. I backed the patterned paper pieces with black cardstock to add some pop.

The Scrap Shotz Creative Team was challenged to create a non-layout project with this month's kit supplies and mine was this 8x10 canvas I plan to frame and hang in our home. I used the washii tape add on, kit chipboard and "mixed bag" die cuts. I've also misted a Heidi Swapp mask with Mr.Huey's Sunset mist and accented some portions with Viva Glitter Liner.
My starting point for this was the February sketch at the beginning of this post.

You can see what the entire CT created here and please stop by the forum and play along with our challenges for this month.

I found a heart file in my Silhouette software and cut it out to use as a template for this heart. I laid the template on the cardstock and then filled in the stencil with Wink of Stella markers to create a watercolour look. All patterned papers are Echo Park Everday Eclectic, sequins are Teresa Collins, bow is made using the WRMK Envelope Punch Board, border punch is Martha Stewart. The patterned papers are edged with the Wink Of Stella brush markers.

Stuck On U Sketches Project Life Challenge Monday

Hello and welcome to another SOUS Project Life Challenge!

There is another great prize up for grabs for playing along with ANY Stuck On U Sketches challenge this month:

So here's I approached this challenge using the negative of a heart which I cut out on my Cameo.

I embossed the card stock and then placed the week number in the center of the heart that I backed with white card stock.
For this week I did all the journaling on my computer in PSE where I edited and added journaling directly to my photos. I love to do this when the photos have areas of open space that will fit journaling and when I don't have enough photos for a two page spread but too many to accommodate more than one journal card.
I haven't used any PL specific products other than the page protector on this page so you can see how easy it is to do your own version of Project Life using what you have in your stash.

You can see how the entire Design Team interpreted this on the SOUS blog here and link us up with your take on this challenge!

Mark February 14th and...

I'll be sharing my layout in addition to a number of other SOUS ladies and the gals at Scraps of Darkness!

Thanks for stopping by!

Project Life 2014 Weeks 1-3

Hello and welcome to my Project Life!

This is my 3rd year doing this project and I will be using the PL Midnight core kit primarily with some bits and pieces thrown in from my stash.

You can see my title page here and view my past Project Life posts by clicking on the "Project Life" tab at the top of my blog.

Let's get the 2014 edition going with a two page spread combining weeks 1 & 2.

The numbers on this spread are Tim Holtz kraft which I rubbed with InkaGold. I added some yellow washii tape to the journal cards to keep the gold/yellow colour running through the spread and used piece of yellow/white patterned paper as a filler card on the right side of the spread to tie both sides together.
I purposely chose not to specify which photos were from which week as I didn't take that many photos the first 2 weeks and I had not journaled the first 2 weeks daily either. This way I was able to capture the highlights of the start of January without stressing about specifics.

Week 3
PL Midnight & Clementine Core kit

I had a number of photos I wanted to include on this page so I added the journaling directly to the photos in PSE and handwrote some journaling with my Smash pen on the photo of my electric pressure cooker. The 4x6 title card is frm the PL Midnight Core Kit and the "everday life" piece is a 3x4 filler card cut down and layered over top. The heart paper clip is from a Studio Calico kit.

I hope you'll pop in next week for a look at my week 4 and a brand new Project Life Challenge from Stuck On U Sketches!

SOUS Project Life Challenge-2014 Title Page

Hello and welcome to the latest Stuck On U Sketches Project Life challenge. A quick reminder that we have a great prize up for grabs from our January Sponsor...

submit your project to this challenge or any of the January challenges for a chance to win all this:

Now on to this week's SOUS challenge...Embossing.

This challenge worked just perfectly for the title page for the 2014 edition of my PL. Is a title page necessary? Absolutely not, but I loved the idea when I saw one done by a couple of years ago so I've included one for my last couple of years of PL.

I kept the page simple using a Design C Becky Higgins page protector with all 4x6 pockets. The embossed element is in the lower left pocket, the cardstock a 3x4 precut card that coordinates with the Midnight Edition. I embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder then layered a flair badge and die cut from an old Studio Calico kit.

The top 2 & bottom right filler cards are from the PL Midnight Core Kit. The days stickers on the top left card are from the PL Clementine core kit. The year are gold Thickers and the frame on the bottom right card is a polaroid frame by Kaisercraft. The "the adventure begins" card is from a piece of Glitz Design paper in my stash.

You can do this project with items you have in your stash, Project Life core kit, or any of the pocket scrapbooking products offered by a variety of manufacturers. I can't stress enough that you do what works for YOU!
I am planning to use the Midnight core kit predominantly this year but we'll see where the SOUS challenges take me!

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have so feel free to comment!

Scrap Shotz January 2014 Kit Reveal!!

A little late but better late than never, here are my projects for the first Scrap Shotz kit of 2014 featuring the Studio Calico Print shop line.

I used scraps from my layouts for these cards and whipped these up in no time!

@TODAY

Positive for Peanuts
There are a bunch of great patterns in this SC line and I had lots of fun working with them as you can see on this layout.

Houseguests
The kit contains vellum die cuts and I used a bunch on this layout.

A clear Wink of Stella brush marker is also in the kit and I used it to highlight a couple of flowers in this patterned paper. The white in the top left and you can see the other on the bottom right.

Ordinary Travel Captured
I used a bit of mist and also colored the stencil on the berry cardstock with the Wink of Stella marker.

Head over to the Scrap Shotz gallery and take a look at all the Creative Team Projects!

Stuck On You Sketches Project Life Challenge

Hello and welcome to the first SOUS Project Life challenge of the New Year along with some exciting SOUS news!!

Whether you are taking on Project Life for the first time or 5th time a challenge is a fun way to stay motivated and inspired to complete a spread. One thing I firmly believe about this project is that you do what works for YOU. Maybe that's a 2 page spread per week, documenting monthly only or a quarterly wrap up of happenings in your life. There are no rules!

Before I get to this week's Project Life challenge let's talk about the exciting SOUS news...

beginning this month we'll be offering blog candy from some fabulous sponsors and our first sponsor this year is...

Scrap Shotz is a fabulous monthly kit club and online store with a great online community as well.

Here's the fabulous prize up for grabs...

and those PL cards aren't just for Project Life, I've made cards with them and used them on traditional scrapbook layouts as well!

All you need to do is join ANY blog challenge of the month, Project Life, sketch or die cut and link us up to your project at the SOUS blog.

Now on to this week's challenge, Vellum! For this challenge I punched a 3"x 4" card from a piece of blue vellum with my WRMK punch. I then took the outside edges of the punched vellum and scored them with my scoreboard to add some texture. I rounded the corners and created a frame with the vellum on the lower left photo. I added snowflakes to reinforce the snow theme and finished off with a PL journal card and filler cards from the Clementine core kit.

I also used vellum in a different way on this page:
Here I've added punched stars from vellum to the title card and overlayed the bottom left filler card, which was a scrap of paper that didn't really work with the colour scheme, to make it work with the rest of the spread.

Vellum is so versatile so I hope you'll show us your take on this challenge at SOUS and be in the running to win this month's fabulous blog candy!

Thanks for stopping by.
