Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts
used by taking powder and mixing it in water to make a rooting solution.
- ONLY take as much Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts as you need from the original package.
- Do NOT return the used Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts to the original stock container.
It is recommended to make fresh Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts solutions, but this is not always possible.
When dissolved in ordinary water, the Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solution degrades the K-IBA at about 5% per month, at ambient room temperature.
Degradation is slightly slower when kept in 40’s F temperatures. Extended storage in bright 'sun' light for an extended period is to be avoided; short term bright light storage is acceptable. Storage in nominal room light is normal and acceptable.
There are a few issues relating to this matter. Neither of the first two are critical, the third has complications.
- When the grower makes up a large Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solution tank (spray operation) they rarely use up the tank load. They replenish as the next production lot is run. These operations are usually done over days, not weeks. There is no cross contamination since the solution is only used one time.
- When the grower is making Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solution tank loads at the same rate over several days, they usually make a very high concentration solution. It is easy to weigh the Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts then make concentrates. After they decant measured (concentrate) solution amounts, adding to the production tank.
- When using the total immerse method, cuttings are put into the Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solution working solution. There can be organic plant matter which is drawn into the solution. If the plant production lot is from a homogeneous stock lot, these are already contaminated with the same possible pathogen. Then, there is no problem with cross contamination during the production day, then discard the solution daily.
Otherwise the Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solution should be discarded after each lot to avoid cross contamination of biological, at minimum daily.
ALWAYS when Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts rooting solutions are made-up the container must be carefully marked as to content.
ONLY the original Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts package has the approved US EPA label.
Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts powders have no expiration when kept in the original container. The Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts product container has seals which keep the powder dry.
If the Salts powder becomes slightly wet, there may be some coarse grains formed from humidity. The Hortus IBA Water Soluble Salts will dissolve in warm water to speed the process. Hand washing water temperature is best.
Rhizopon AA #1, #2 and #3
dry dip powders are ready to use rooting hormones.
- Always take out the amount of Rhizopon AA powder you need for the current day needs.
- NEVER return the used Rhizopon AA portion to the original container.
- Always dispose of the the used Rhizopon AA portion.
- When you dip the basal end of the cuttings into the Rhizopon AA powder you might drag into the powder some pathogens or parts of the plant; these will biologically break down the active ingredients
