This technique-rich cowl and mitt set is a knitted remembrance of our 2022 Rhine (German: Rhein) River knitting cruise, starting out in Amsterdam and traveling through Germany and France to Switzerland.

Am Rhein includes an openwork ribbing, jogless stripes, crocheted provisional cast-on, tubular cast-on, tuck stitches, a beautiful openwork stitch pattern from one of my favorite German books, and a bind-off that creates a casing for a drawstring. I love it in both the fade and the contrasty colors. The mitts may also be worked in two colors, and the cowl can be made into a closed or messy bun hat by tightening the drawstring and tying it up!
