As the dim-witted but good-natured Joey Tribbiani, a struggling actor and serial lothario, LeBlanc became an instant household name alongside his co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox. But just like his castmates, LeBlanc struggled to translate his small screen success to feature films. LeBlanc had the toughest time with his big screen career despite a major supporting role in the critically maligned "Lost in Space" (1998) and the monster hit "Charlie's Angels" (2000). LeBlanc returned to series television with "Joey" (NBC, 2004-06), which depicted the continuing adventures of Joey Tribbiani in Los Angeles. Despite heavy promotion, audience interest in "Joey" waned by season's end, leading to the show's cancellation in the middle of Season Two. He would go on to critical acclaim by lampooning himself on "Episodes" (Showtime, 2010-15), and later co-hosted a rebooted version of the popular British auto show "Top Gear" (BBC 2016- ) while returning to American network TV as the star of family sitcom "Man With A Plan" (CBS 2016- ). Regardless of his post-"Friends" struggles, LeBlanc remained one of the more recognizable and beloved television actors working in the business.

  • At the age of nine, actor Cameron Monaghan made his television feature debut as Winthrop Paroo, the cute-as-a-button Iowa boy who bonds with Professor Harold Hill (Matthew Broderick) in the 2003 version of "The Music Man" (ABC). For many young actors, such a sweet role might set the path for their future careers, but Monaghan bucked the trend by tackling some truly offbeat young characters - from the manic Chad on "Malcolm in the Middle" (Fox, 2000-06) to a fifth-grade oddball and bully on "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" (Nickelodeon, 2004-07). His star-making turn as Ian Gallagher on "Shameless" (Showtime, 2011- ) was a more mature and complex version of those roles; a gay teen who hid his sexuality behind an aggressive and combative exterior, Monaghan won praise for his thoughtful and often daring performance, which was roundly considered worthy of Emmy consideration by television critics. The positive reviews and solid work seemed to indicate that Monaghan was well on his way to an even richer career in features and on television.

James Hetfield is best known as the heart-pounding lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the iconic American heavy metal band Metallica. Born on August 3, 1963, in Downey, California, Hetfield's journey to stardom was no bed of roses. With a tumultuous family background marred by his mother's untimely death and father's sudden departure, he found solace in music. It became an escape from his challenging circumstances, shaping him into the resilient musician he is today. Hetfield co-founded Metallica in October 1981 with Lars Ulrich, a drummer he met through a newspaper advertisement. The band would grow to become one of the "Big Four" thrash metal groups alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. Hetfield's distinctive style of aggressive rhythm guitar playing and gruff vocal delivery defined much of Metallica's sound and established them as significant players in the global metal community. Albums like Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and The Black Album have since become legendary, showcasing Hetfield's songwriting prowess and contributing to Metallica's enormous commercial success. Despite achieving colossal fame and success, Hetfield has faced several personal struggles. His battle with alcoholism and other addictions is well-documented. In 2001, he entered rehab, bravely confronting his demons head-on. This experience influenced much of Metallica's later work, notably their album St. Anger. Undeterred by these battles, Hetfield continues to be a dynamic force in the music industry. His compelling life story serves as an inspiration to many aspiring musicians, proving that talent combined with tenacity can overcome even the most formidable obstacles.
