Philly Loves Lacquer - The Bright Stuff, Baby! Collection [Summer 2016]

Press Sample

If you follow me on Snapchat (ashley.eileen), you got to see a sneak peek at this collection when I was swatching it. You all know how much I love neons! This collection hits it out of the park for me. It's inspired by 90s boy bands. Esther, the brains behind PhLL, actually had a naming contest in the Philly Loves Lacquer Collective Facebook group. My name for the yellow one won!

Mixed Manicure - Nude and Black

This manicure is something different for me. I've seen tons of mixed manicures, aka kitchen sink manis, all over Instagram and Pinterest, but have never tried one myself. I recently received a few things from KK Center HK for review purposes and had to put them to the test. This manicure combines fun, elegance, and neutrals.

Some products were sent for review.

Deborah Lippmann: Flashdance

Deborah Lippmann polishes fell off my radar for awhile, but can't help falling for a good glitter. I picked this up from Nordstrom's back in August during a buy two, get one free promotion. I don't know what took me so long finally use it.

Essie Butler Please and Glitzology Crunch Berries

When I was headed out the door for work this morning, I saw a package sitting near my front door. (My mailman stops by super early. I know you're all jealous!) I received an awesome RAOK aka a random act of kindness from a lovely lady I met in a nail polish group. Courtney sent me Essie's Butler Please and Tart Deco along with a ton of great goodies. I couldn't wait to get home tonight to give Butler Please a try.

Essie Butler Please is a stunning bright primary blue. This is part of the 2012 winter collection. I usually don't care for blue polish, but that's changing. I've been looking for a polish like this, and it's the perfect addition to my collection.

The formula was great! This is two easy coats with top coat. Dry time was quick, but it did dry a bit one the dull size. I honestly can't believe I've fallen in love with a blue polish.

Because we all know I can't leave well enough alone...

I had to try out Glitzology Crunch Berries over this! As you can tell, I'm really into Glitzology polish right now. Crunch Berries is a mix of yellow, red, and blue matte and satin glitter hexes and squares. I originally ordered this for the name alone; Crunch Berries happen to be Mr. P&P's favorite cereal.

The formula for this glitter was on point. I used two thin coats and two coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out. I'm a bit heavy handed on top coat. I really like the glassy look of floating glitters.

What's your favorite blue? I think might be at the top of my list right now.

12 Days of Christmas: Day Eight - Favorite Holiday Character

This was a tough one to narrow down. A few characters came to mind, but one stuck out from my childhood. The Abominable Snowman! What can I say? I have a thing for big furry guys. ;)

This was super simple. I used a white base, a coat of Seche Vite, and cotton balls. The face is a base of RBL Faraway. I used dotting tools and stripers. While this isn't practical, it was fun for a minute!

     Who's your favorite holiday character?

Lynnderella Ghost of a Chance

I wanted to title this "On Wednesdays We Wear Pink," but I'm a few days late for that. I actually wore this earlier this week and received many compliments on it. I don't typically wear pink.

Essie Off The Shoulder is my go to bubble gum pink. It's a bright, hot pink with cool undertones. It doesn't give me lobster hands, and I think it works well for all seasons. Bubble gum pink is timeless, right? The formula on this is perfect. I love Essie cremes. This one went on smoothly and was opaque in two coats.

As an accent, I added Lynnderella Ghost of a Chance to my thumb and ring finger. Ghost of a Chance is filled with translucent white and pastel glitters in a sheer and shimmery base with a sprinkling of rainbow glitter.

Ghost of a Chance was a little thick for my liking. I only used one coat for this look. It required a bit of dabbing to spread out the glitter. When I first applied the polish, the white squares were all on top of one another.

Glitzology Raspberry Beret

I know, I know. I've been MIA, but it's with good cause. It's the holiday season and I work retail. You do the math! (Does anyone else picture Betty saying that?)

Anyways, I've got a good one for you today. I recently came across Glitzology via some friends in a polish group on Facebook. During a $5 sale, I picked up today's polish, Raspberry Beret, and Stuck In The Chimney which will make an appearance at a later date.

Raspberry Beret is a lovely mix of  fine and medium raspberry hexes, blue "shreds" that are mostly square, and a few opal squares here and there. These photos show one coat over two coats of Illamasqua Jo'mina. I used one coat of Gelous followed by one coat of Seche Vite. The SV alone would have done the trick, but I really like super smooth look of the duo. Application was a breeze. The polish was PACKED with glitter. It applied evenly and easily. And who doesn't love Prince? Come on now!

I was so impressed by this polish that I ordered more today! Glitzology is currently running a special promotion for Small Business Saturday and it runs through Monday the 26th. $4.25 is a steal for the quality of these. Just enter SUPPORTSMALL50 during checkout. :)

Butter London Queen Vic and Lovely Jubbly

Whoa now! I'm on a roll.

Many of you took part in the Ulta sale this past Monday. Butter Londons were Buy One Get One Free with a limit of 4 total. Of course I had to partake in the deal! I work long hours and wasn't able to get to Ulta until half an hour to close. Luckily, I work caddy corner to the store. When I arrived, I thought all the BLs were sold out, but I was in luck! I got my grabby hands on Queen Vic, Lovely Jubbly, Trout Pout, and Lady Muck. I may or may not have swooped in like a hawk and swiped them as other girls were moving in on them. I also picked up Horse Power. I've used it a few times so far and really like it as a base coat. It's thick, glossy, strong, and has a great dry time.

When I saw Queen Vic and Lovely Jubbly side by side, I knew they would be perfect together. Keep on reading for the pictures!
