IWSG is a writers' support group created and led by Alex Cavanaugh.
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
This group is an immense help to many of us who do not mind sharing our insecurities, our successes, or giving encouragement and support to others.

Rejections: Contemplations Of A Woman Turning Sixty-Five - Flash Fiction, The Masters Review (Although my story wasn’t accepted for publication, I received an outstanding critique from the judges telling me why and suggesting that I revise it. They even gave me the names of three publications where they knew it would fit. And that made me happy)
The Writer’s Journey
In 2013, while taking a class offered by Writer’s Digest, I asked a question that would change the way I see my characters and building the world they live in. The instructor suggested that I try to find a copy of The Writer’s Journey by Christopher Vogler. I did find a first edition copy, and this has become my go-to book. I have yellow and green highlights throughout the book, and it also has my ideas notated when I stumble upon something I haven’t seen before. When I received it, I stayed up all night reading it the first time. The book sits on my desk. Every time I read it, I discover something new and understand more clearly what I need to do to breathe life into my characters.
