Smashing Kaylee

Greetings Oddies!!  Here again bringing you another amazing set from Some Odd Girl!  Today's release highlights the gorgeous Kaylee and her new fun filled closet
In lieu of a card today I decided to create a smash page using this gorgeous gal!
It's a mini Smash book - about 5"x 7" or so.  Just the right size and place to use lots of bits and leftover scraps.  I inked Kaylee in Momento ink and colored her with my Copics.  I then paper pieced her adorable dress as well as the white trim on the bottom.
I LOVE the versatility of this set as there's so many unbelievable options!!  I used all kinds of bits and bobs from a variety of sources in my stash.  Bottlecap embellies, resin flowers, rhinestone bling, mini paperclips, rosette trimmed ribbon and Washi tape.  Most papers are from Amy Tangerine.
I used lots of stitching to add extra texture.
My sentiment is from my very favorite Under The Sea Mae set.

Thanks for coming by again today!!  I hope you are enjoying this new release as much as I am!

One Hot Dog!

Greetings Oddies!!  Today is SUCH a fun day as it starts our new clear stamp release for August!!  There are four crazy adorable sets releasing this week and I know you're going to love them all!  Today we're showing off the set called Preppie Pups.  I mean, really...do they get any cuter?  Before I get to my project, I am going to show you the entire set:
Sooooooo cute.  I went pretty CAS today using my favorite Distress Ink water coloring technique for this sweet Dachshund.  I used an older MFT sketch as my jumping off point and kept my card relatively masculine in nature.
My papers are from MME - Darling Dear.  One of my favorite little tricks when using acrylic sentiments is to be able to curve them to suit your panels!  In this case my 'hey hot dog' sentiment is curved to follow the line of the ovals which were cut using my MFT Oval STAX Die-namics.

I created some rolled flowers using kraft and black cardstock and my rolled rose Die-namic.

The possibilities with this set are totally endless!  Thanks for popping by today!  See you tomorrow with another fabulous Odd Girl set!!

One Party Animal!

Greetings Oddies!!  Today marks the first Blog Hop of the new Some Odd Girl term! I am so excited to be showing you some new sets that I know you’re going to enjoy. Today the team will be featuring projects featuring the soon to be released sets, Preppy Pups and our new line, Kaylee’s Closet.

Be sure to leave a comment on each stop as we will be giving away the new Preppy Pups 4×6 set AND our Kaylee’s Closet Wardrobe set!  A fabulous prize for sure!!
You are going to find tons of inspiration with these new sets along the way so let’s get to hopping!  You should have arrived to my blog via the lovely Rachel's blog.  If not be sure to start the hop right HERE.
My creation today features the adorable Preppie Pups set using the bulldog-esque puppy as well as the HYSTERICAL mustache!  I stamped the puppy using Momento ink onto kraft cardstock and then colored with my Copics.  I inked the mustache with black Colorbox ink and heat set it with black embossing powder.  I cut both of them out and added the mustache with a tiny dab of Glossy Accents.
I added the sentiment 'party animal' to the right hand side of my main panel.  I anchored the corners with large, sticky back gems and popped the puppy up using dimensional adhesive.

My papers are a mish mash from G45, Crate Paper and Bazzill.  I used the last bit of my VERY favorite May Arts Chevron ribbon (with a note to buy more!) to create a sweet knot on the right hand side, balancing it out with resin flowers from Kaiser on the left.  I added stitching to all of my layers and used an older sketch from MFT as my muse.

Thanks so much for coming by today!  Your next stop on this fun hop is my dear friend Leah C.!  She will SURELY have something to seriously WOW you!!

I've added the entire hop list below just in case you get lost!!  Have fun and have a great weekend!!

Just Keep Swimming...

Greetings Oddies!!  Sooo glad to be here with you today bringing you another fabulous challenge over at the Odd Girl Blog!!  There's a super fun sketch for you to play along with us and don't forget...you have an entire month to play along!!  It's just fabulous all around!

Here's the sketch:

I've used one of my very favorite SOG sets - Under The Sea Mae, this time highlighting the CRAZY CUTE sea horse.  I used one of my most used and most popular "go to" techniques - painting with Distress Inks.  I have to be honest, when I'm in a crunch for time, feeling low on mojo, or am having one or another crafting maladies I turn to this technique to help push me through and finish a creation that I am happy with and can be proud of!

I inked the seahorse onto good quality watercolor paper and heat set it with black embossing powder.  A tip for using black embossing powder.  If you don't have a fancy powder tool, which I do not, (love those things!) grab a dryer sheet and lightly swift it over your paper.  Don't scrub too hard because then your ink won't grab well to the paper but if you do it lightly it does help eliminate any static cling and you won't be left with so many stray bits of embossing powder.  But there are always a few, so I take a very fine, soft paintbrush and gently sweep away any strays that are hanging around.  I then zap it dry!
I love how quickly the image comes together when painting with the pearlized water yet how sparkly, shimmery and brilliant the color comes out.  I cut it out using my circle Spellbinders matting it with kraft cardstock.
For my background, I started with some very basic designer paper from a HUGE stack pack that I bought years ago.  I recently 'unearthed' it tucked away in a bin.  It seriously was 300 or so sheets and I *think* it was either from K&CO or DCWV.  One of the two.  The paper is really thin and to call the quality fair is being kind.  But I LOVED most of the patterns and colors so I grabbed it when it was on sale eons ago.  When I found it a few weeks ago, I painstakingly went through it tearing out all of the sheets I liked and trimmed them down to a manageable 6x6 size.  I RARELY buy 12x12 anymore unless the patterns are smaller scaled which work better for cards and mini-albums so whatever was leftover went right into my kids art drawers!

I grabbed a patterned blue piece but it didn't "quite" go with my scheme so I enhanced it a bit by stamping the background with a Studio Calico background stamp and embossing it with white embossing powder.  I then grabbed the same Distress Inks that I used for the sea horse - Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint and sponged the background until it was exactly how I wanted it.  I love that you can still see the original paper shining through but it looks just richer with the added touches.
I used a variety of embellishments including pearlized and glittery brads, paper doily, baker's twine, fabric flower trim, a fun decorative pin, sticky back rhinestones and my MFT Fishtail Flag STAX Die-namics.
I layered my main panel and ran a straight stitch for extra texture.
I really do love when all of my elements come start to come together.
I do so hope you come join us over at the Odd Girl Challenge Blog!!  Can't wait to see what you create!!

Sweet Friend...

Greetings Oddies!!  I'm back with another GORGEOUS new image from Kristy at Some ODd Girl!!  Today's fairy is called Forest Friend Fairy.  Isn't she darling?  When making this card I was in a super dimensional mood so clearly...this is one to be hand delivered!  HA!  I've colored her with my Copics and she was printed out onto Copic X-Press Blending paper.  It's my coloring medium of choice these days.  After coloring her, I started layering my Ouchless Cardboard, Notebook Edge punch from SU!, PTI ribbon, some acrylic paint and stitching to add to the mix!
I used a large pre-assembled award style ribbon that I picked up at Michael's to complete the pedestal that this gorgeous fairy is perched upon.
Thanks so much for coming by today!!  Don't forget to pop by the Odd Girl shop and pick up this and the other gorgeous new images!!

Shine On

Greetings Oddies!!  To my American friends I wish you a VERY happy and healthy Fourth of July!!  I hope you're off spending time doing whatever it is that makes you smile!!  Today I'm here bringing you a fun and summery card using one of my favorite Odd Girl sets - Sunny Mae

I started by choosing some fun and very bright summery papers.  They are all from Recollections brand - the house brand at Michael's.  They are not the highest quality thickness-wise but they are very pretty and bright.

Once I had my papers, I set to coloring Mae.  I inked her with Momento and stamped her onto Copic X-press blending paper.  It's super smooth, absorbent and blends so beautifully!  I highly recommend.  I colored her and then paper pieced her dress.  I did color the beautiful flower on her dress with my Copics.

I used some awesome MFT dies - Dizzy Doily Duo, to tuck behind her and really maker her pop.  I added some Fishtail Flag STAX Die-namics in varying sizes and colors on the right hand side to balance out the beauty on the left.

I added one of my favorite sentiments 'shine on' which comes with the set to the lower right hand side of the entire frame.

I finished my panels off with some basic straight stitching and a few mini silver brads.  As you can see, I added some Distress Ink in Vintage photo sponged on the edge of my flags, doilies and her dress for added dimension.

I hope you have enjoyed my project feature today and enjoy a wonderful day wherever you are!!

Hit The Beach...Odd Girl Style!

Greetings Oddies!!  Posting today to show off one of Kristy's classic and fabulous digital images Beach Babe Kaylee.  I printed her out on Copic X-Press Blending paper and colored her with my Copics.  I fussy cut her out leaving about a 1/8" border around her as I love the way this looks.  Once she was all cut out and trimmed properly I took my Glossy Accents and coated her fabulous "Jackie-O" style sunglasses.  I waited for it to dry and then glazed it up again to make it extra thick and glossy.

I dug deep into my scrap stash and pulled out some old Basic Grey scraps and some rustic red background paper.  I pulled out my Distress Inks and saturated a plain manila tag with Peacock ink and pearlized water along with a plain doily with Milled Lavender with another spritz of the pearlized water.

I had a scrap of self-adhesive cork left and I ran it through my Grand Calibur using my MFT Stacking Star Die-namic.  As a finishing touch I did a bit of straight stitching and added metallic self-adhesive pearls to anchor the corners.

Come on by the Some Odd Girl blog and see the other girls' renditions of this fabulously fun image!

To The Beach!

Greetings Oddies!!!  Oh I'm just so excited to be here with you during this week's fabulous new release!!  Today, I'm showing off the gorgeous new Beach Mae.  Seriously...is she not stunning!?!?  I just love her!!

I've inked her with Momento and colored her with my Copics.  One of the many, many things I love about Some Odd Girl is that I can use a digital stamp in combination with a clear acrylic set as I've done here with a sentiment from Beach Day Buddies.  It really helps to add and compliment your stamp collection when you can use both mediums together.  And, I must admit, that I love the instant gratification of digital stamps.  Select, Pay, Immediately Receive = Happy Crafter.
I used new papers from Basic Grey - Konnichiwa.  I absolutely love the corals and aquas as they simply scream summer to me!  I've kept my layout basic and crisp adding some custom embellishments that I made myself.  (I'll show you that in another post!  keep your eyes out!)
I just love the impact of this large floral grouping!

Make sure to pop by the Odd Girl Blog to see the other stunning renditions of Beach Mae by my fellow Design Team members!!

Sea You Soon!!

Greetings Oddie Fans!!  It's June 1st and time for another awesome challenge at the Odd Girl Blog!  This month's challenge is one of my very favorites...an inspirational color challenge!  Here is your inspiration:

Seriously gorgeous, right?!?!  Ok well here's my interpretation using the newly released Under The Sea Mae
I colored her with my Copics and used the fun "pixelation" coloring that is so trendy right now.  I used papers from Bazzill and MME.  I used one of my favorite summery color combinations turquoise and gold and paired them with a fabulously rich chocolate brown to make everything pop.  I used some classic stitching and fluffy grosgrain ribbon bow.
I can't wait to see what you create for this month's fun and inspiring challenge!

Thanks so much for coming by!!

Some Odd Girl - Thinking Of You

Greetings Oddies!!  Today I'm with you to bring a GORGEOUS color challenge - over at the Some Odd Girl Challenge Blog!!  You can see the colors above but you must head on over to the blog to see the unbelievable samples that the Design Team came up with!  SWOON!

I've used my clear Sweet Thinkin' Mae set which absolutely inks just beautifully!  I used my Momento ink and Copics for color.
I went really dark on Mae's hair giving her skin a beautiful, warm glow.  I paper pieced her dress and shrug.  I used a sketch from my rapidly growing sketch book.  I used that term very loosely as they are not my sketches.  They are ones that I've collected here, there and everywhere.  I print them off and keep them stacked together.  I use a GIGANTIC and I do me hugemongus binder clip to hold them all together.  I am getting to the point where I'm going to have to either punch holes and use 3-rings or bring them to my local office supply store and have it spiral bound.  (Yes, they can do that!  It's so cool! And very cheap...easily under $4) I'll do a little video on that sometime.

But I digress, I used all papers from from Authentique, cardstock from Bazzill and Recollections.  My card measures 5.25x5.25 to accommodate the Mae's height plus the two fabulous oval STAX from MFT.
I used some self adhesive pearls on the corners as well as around my sentiment.  The bubbly oval is also included in this set as is the sentiment.
You know you want to grab this set right up!  It's so crazy cute!!

Thanks for popping by!! I do hope you'll come join us with this simply beautiful color challenge!!

Some Odd Girl - Feature Stamp Post - Stomp Stomp!!

Good Monday Morning Friends and Oddies!!  Today over at the Odd Girl Blog we're showcasing another fabulous Some Odd Girl Digital Image - Stompin' Tobie.  Seriously?  Isn't he the sweetest!!??!

I've colored Tobie with my Copics and paper pieced his sweatshirt and puddle stomping boots!  I used my Versamark pen to coat his boots and the puddle beneath him.  I then coated them with clear embossing powder and heat set them so that they looked all wet and shiny.

I used a sentiment from the Nutsy Kaylee Stamp Set to create a balanced focal area next to Tobie.  I used some pre-cut felt stars that I had in my stash - the red and green are from a pre-cut embellishment pack and the orange one was cut using an MFT Die-namics die.

I kept the rest of this creation very CAS (for me;) but Tobie was too cute and really didn't need much more IMO!

Hope you all have a great day and I'll see you around the bloggy block tomorrow!!

Some Odd Girl - Time For Spring!! ( almost! )

Hi Oddies!  Thank you for your kind comments here and on the Some Odd Girl Blog all week during our four day of this amazing digital release!  I'm so happy to be here with you again today to introduce you to Summery Mae and Woodsy Mae.  Just two more fabulously darling ladies to add to the ever growing Odd Girl Family!

My first creation features Summery Mae.
I printed her out and colored her with my Copics.  I then paper pieced her skirt.  All papers are Jillybean Soup and the flower and leaf are cut using MFT Die-namics.
In order to add texture to her hat I first colored the hat with my Copics.  I then took a small scrap of denim fabric, and using the reverse side (so as not to transfer any denim color onto my image) dab one or two drops of your Colorless Blender Refill until just damp.  Now press the fabric against the colored image.  In about five seconds you pick up the fabric and the color will be lifted out of those now textured spaces by the Colorless Blender solution.  It's super fun!!

My second creation uses the beautiful Woodsy Mae.
I went a bit preppie (for me ;) and used absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS Miss Caroline papers from MME.  SWOON!  I printed Mae and colored her with my Copics.  I repeated the treatment on her pants (see tiny written tutorial above!;) to make them look like Corduroy or Suede.  I added some sweet flowers and a bit of stitching and I was happy.

I hope you've enjoyed this weeks phenomenal release at Some Odd Girl!  Once again, Kristy has given us even more fabulous art to create with!!

Come on over and see all of the images in the Odd Girl Shop!!!

Some Odd Girl - It's Ok To Be Shy

Greetings again Oddies!!  Thanks so much for coming by again today!!  I'm showing you two more adorable new images that Kristy has just released!  Shy Kaylee and Shy Mae!  Oh they are just darling!

My first card features Shy Kaylee:

I printed her out on Xpress Blending paper and colored her with my Copics.  I wanted her to look like she's wearing a super comfy sweatshirt!  So cozy!  I used a mix and match of bold colors and patterns to off set her light colored clothing.  My sentiment is from Sweet Thinkin' Mae set.

My second creation features Mae:
She is also colored with Copics.  I created polka-dots using my Glossy Accents and I then coated them in turquoise glitter and set it aside to dry for a few hours.  I grabbed a large chipboard tag and I covered it with Hero Hues Chalk Latte ink.  I wanted to keep the card relatively simple as Mae is so sassy in her discoliscious sweater!  (wink!)  I stamped 'sweetest wishes' from  in Versamark ink and coated it with white embossing powder and heat set it.  It got a little fussy but I like how it turned out.  I added some pretty chocolate, satin ribbon and a few circles of bling to make it all pop.
I hope you are having as much fun with these new fabby girls as I am!  Here's where you can oogle some more and grab some in the store!

See you tomorrow with two more cuties!

Some Odd Girl - Sketch Challenge

Greetings Oddies!!  Thanks for popping in with us today!!  We have a FANTASTIC new sketch challenge all ready for you to run off and create with!  Here's the wonderful and very versatile sketch:

And here is my interpretation using Valentine Tobie.  Oh he is just SO sweet!!  I printed him out and colored him with my Copics.  I then paper pieced his ridiculously adorable pants, jumper and bow tie.  I also pieced his right arm and letter so that it did not seem sunken in by the extra depth of his sweater.
I used a sentiment from the awesome Crushin' Gwen clear acrylic set.  I used papers from MME's Fine and Dandy - Boy line.  (swoon)

I did go a little tiny bit rogue on the sketch as I needed my sentiment panel to be above the center panel and I added buttons tied with taupe embroidery floss.
I do so hope you come and play with us over at Some Odd Girl!  Kristy ALWAYS has fabby prizes so you'll definitely want to come and join us!!

See you over there!

Some Odd Girl - Roller Mae

Hi All!!  Popping in today bringing you a sweet image from Some Odd Girl.  This darling image is called Roller Mae.  Isn't she FABULOUS?  I love her 'vintage' style roller skates.  I totally rocked these during my entire 80's childhood!  (hehe!)  We are running digi features about every two weeks over at the Odd Girl blog.  And right now, this image is 25% off!!

I colored her with my Copics using lots of colors!  Her rainbow legwarmers (or toe socks...remember those?!?!)  are my favorite!  I created texture on her jeans using an tiny scrap of denim fabric and my colorless blender ink refill.  First, you color your image.  Then you dab a bit of the refill onto the denim scrap and press onto the area where you want the texture.  The colorless refill will pick up the color leaving the texture in its place.  It's so fun!  I used a nice thick coat of Glossy Accents on her roller skates to get them to a perfect shine.

The DP is from American Crafts.  I used a sentiment from the Lovey Tobie Clear Set.  I inked it with white craft ink, coated in white embossing powder and heat set.

Thanks for popping in today!!
