Landon's Letter- Sept 28th

September 28, 2010

Being off track was fun, but I was also scared because I forgot two-digit division. The Herriman fire was bad (thanks to Camp Williams) and I had to stay at my uncle’s house. The worst part of it all is my dad made me sleep in the same bed as my sister. But I knew I couldn’t because my sister is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep with. She kicks, she turns, but even worse… drum roll please. The worst part is SHE SLEEPWALKS!!! One time when me and Emma were in different rooms and she slept walked through the hall, opened my door and stood there. But to wake me up (still asleep) she jumped on my bed and made me scream. I made her go back to bed (Emma still asleep) but she surprised me by fighting back. When she through me off of her Emma grabbed some underwear and finally went to bed. When she woke up she had some underwear over her pajamas. So if you ask why I’m on a beanbag chair with a blanket, you’ll know why. My family drove back, but some firefighters wouldn’t let us back in our house. So my family stayed outside for 6 hours waiting for the firefighters to let us in to our SAFE home.
After fall break I met school again. Like I said before I forgot my double-digit division, so when you were going over it I was sitting there scratching my head worried for the quiz. I asked my mom for help with my homework and she looked at it. She couldn’t even help me at all! I waited three hours for my dad to come home. He couldn’t help me either! So my dad looked on a children’s website to learn division again. But the website showed a whole different way of division as I know it. But after 4 hours I learned it. It was a little easier. And that’s how I got an A on my test.

What To Do When You Get Kicked Out of Your Home?

We were unable to stay in our home for three days while the Disaster Team Oxidized our home as the final stage of the smoke removal. Jeremy had meetings already scheduled in Salt Lake, and since the kids were still off track, I took the kids to St. George.
As you can see, the kids were quite distraught and hated being there.

September 11th Healing Feilds

We go to the Healing Fields in Sandy every year to remember the attack of 9/11. It's such a good reminder of the freedom we enjoy and the lives lost that day. It's always a very peaceful experience.

Geocaching

Have you heard of Geocaching? It's basically a treasure hunt for grown-ups. You can go online and either hide or find a 'treasure' based on GPS coordinates. It's not something I've personally gotten into, but my parents and a few other friends and family members are obsessed. I think it's such a great motivator to get out and see places that you wouldn't otherwise see. Last May we went throughout St. George and found different treasures. I saw parts of the city I didn't know existed. So fun!

While my parents were here this weekend, we decided to explore our little city and help them add to their collection. We all had a great time!

Another Year Older

Jeremy's birthday fell on a Tuesday this year, so it was pretty much business as usual; Landon had scouts and Emma had dance. We did order pizza and had cupcakes to celebrate.

Since his actual birthday day was kind of lame, I told him to plan a night out the following weekend. He could plan ANYTHING he wanted, and I promised not to complain (that was my gift to him, since I'm pretty picky). He told me to dress semi-formal and not ask him any questions. We drove to Salt Lake and ended up in an older neighborhood. He drove to the back of someone's house and parked. Suddenly I was reminiscent of a High School dance where my date thought it would be super creative to drive back to his home and have his mom cook for us.

Score.

After going inside, to my surprise, the house was converted into a quaint little restaurant with about 12 tables. When the server came to our table, she asked us if we wanted the 2-hour experience or the 4-hour experience. At that point, I knew we were in for something unique. We opted for the 2-hour experience, which was a 12-course meal (I can't even imagine what the 4-hour experience entailed). I love that Jeremy chose something that would allow us to enjoy good food, but most importantly have time alone to just hang out and talk, which we do not do often enough. I started to take pictures of each dish because it was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was such amazing food, and even more amazing company.

Happy birthday babe!
