I don't understand your point? It changed your life because of you noticed you didn't need the stuff? This book was to be preached, not practiced... he was such a contradicting man!

Preached not practiced? Where does Thoreau say that?
I hated this book, and I would certainly not reccomend it to anybody. It seemed extremely long, considering that my copy was only about three hundred pages, and I found myself yawning almost every other line. I suggest you read this book only if you enjoy reading and rereading the same lines, while forcing your eyes to stay open, for long periods of time. Otherwise, I say this: avoid Walden like the plague.
This book has changed my life. At the age I am at now, I have passed through the portion of my life when I have attempted to lay up my treasures. Upon my milestone birthdate, I had not accomplished as much (materially) as others my age. This book has opened my eyes that I am much richer than I had thought.
