What happens in Vanished into the Night?

Pietro (Scamarcio) and Elena (Wallis) are in the middle of a divorce when their two children, Bianca (Coletti) and Giovanni (Ferrante), disappear. The kids were asleep in bed at Pietro’s home, then gone without a trace by the time their father checked on them. Elena, away in Milan, rushes back to Bari just as Pietro gets a call: It’s a man demanding 150,000 euros in cash for the children’s safe return. But Pietro already owes 250,000 euros of gambling debt — there’s no way he can afford to pay the kidnapper. So he contacts an old friend Nicola (Gallo) to secure funds, fast. But Nicola’s involved in some shady dealings — which puts Pietro himself in jeopardy. Just how far are he and Elena willing to go to save their children? And is ransom the kidnapper’s only motive?
