“It feels great for everyone to know and to see us as a true love match,” Rae tells Tudum. Her spouse, Hinton, agreed, saying, “[After] everything that we’ve been through as a couple, we’re still here, going strong, and rooting for each other. We’re supporting each other, and we’re not taking anything for granted.”

Bridgerton began its march down the aisle with the Bridgerton Wedding Collection, a collaboration between Netflix, Shondaland, Bridger-verse costume designer Lyn Paolo, and bridalwear designer Allure Bridals. Now you can follow Rae and Hinton through their own Bridgerton fantasy. What is the Bridgerton fan wedding?

The swoon-worthy romance of Bridgerton is becoming a reality in the Event of the Season: A Bridgerton Wedding — with two fans at the center of the spotlight. During the drama’s Valentine’s Day event, stars Adjoa Andoh and Golda Rosheuvel — who portray Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte — confirmed the series will reward one superfan couple with a wedding worthy of the Bridgerton family. Alice Wilkes, a London-based expert in Regency-era nuptials, is the wedding planner.

When planning the wedding with Wilkes, the couple requested nuptials in a Bridgerton style with “a modern New York flair.”

The event will help celebrate the continued bond between the Bridger-verse and its dedicated fanbase, who’ll be able to follow every step in the wedding process here on Tudum.com. Lady Whistledown would never miss this ball — so you shouldn’t either.

Introducing the Bridgerton Fan Wedding Couple

Who is getting married at the Bridgerton fan wedding?

Self-described Bridgerton “superfans” Rae, 27, and Hinton, 28, are the charmed couple. The New Yorkers initially met in high school as friends, and their relationship then blossomed into love. Now, 10 years later, they live together in Brooklyn. The couple relates to the romance of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

“I wasn’t really looking for someone, and Tiff wasn’t really looking for someone. We were really just in our own bubble in life, going through life and finding ourselves,” Hinton tells Tudum. “We were having those tough conversations as friends. We got a stronger connection through that. So that made us be like, ‘Wait a minute, actually, I could see this person as my person.’ ”

While Rae (who uses she/her pronouns) and Hinton’s (who uses they/them pronouns) love story starts with prom, it’s evolved in a very Bridgerton manner. The pair showcased their romance — and fandom — at the Queen’s Ball Experience in June 2023, dazzling their fellow revelers. Now, they’ve traveled to London for their first time ever for the Bridgerton wedding.

After more than a decade of love together, Rae and Hinton agree that their relationship has helped them both “step out of the shadows,” just like wallflower Penelope is poised to do in Bridgerton Season 3. The partnership has encouraged Rae and Hinton to explore their queer identities and express themselves fully. Now that’s a tale worth raising a glass to.

Chapter 1: A Love Match

Which Bridgerton cast members are involved in the fan wedding?

When Rae and Hinton check into their hotel, The Lanesborough in Hyde Park, London, they’re welcomed with a very special video message from none other than Season 3 leads Coughlan and Newton. “This is your moment to shine. You’re our diamonds of the season,” Coughlan says. Rae and Hinton squeal in delight. They now say the greeting made them feel like they were truly inside Bridgerton.

“We were like, ‘Yeah, play it again. We need to play it again!,’ ” Rae says. “Lady Whistledown can write about us.”

Then, in “Chapter 2: Preparing for the Ball,” Rae and Hinton find two surprise guests at tea time: Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury themselves, Rosheuvel and Andoh. “That was a shocker. We came in and just started crying,” Rae says. “It was such a natural thing when we were talking with them … They were really, really getting to know us. It was like the cameras was not there at all.”

Hinton is still noticeably moved by her time with Bridgerton aristocracy, especially because they were so inspired by the poignant storytelling of Queen Charlotte

“They are role models to me. Their characters made me really reflect on my life, my relationships with my family and with my mom,” Hinton says. “I’m in awe. It was like, ‘You’re pulling on my heartstrings.’ I was able to connect to the stories … and know there’s hope. That I can still keep going.”

The experience was also deeply meaningful for Rosheuvel and Andoh, who focused on being “present” during their emotional tea time. “To have people who look like me saying amazing things about the work that we have created as individuals, as an acting company, makes it all very worthwhile,” Rosheuvel tells Tudum. “And I was really empowered. This will stay with me for a very, very, very long time.”

Andoh calls the experience “humbling,” looking back. “It can refocus you into not just thinking about your work, but the impact of your work out in the world,” she says. “And also for me, it’s a reconfirmation of what storytelling does when it’s powerful and when people feel there’s an authentic resonance to it.”

In “Chapter 3: A Trip to the Modiste,” the couple separately choose their respective wedding fashions (more on that below). They’re both surprised by Kathryn Drysdale, who portrays Bridgerton’s leading style tastemaker, modiste Genevieve Delacroix. “That was a complete shock. She came in like, ‘Bonjour!’ ” Rae says. “I started crying because I’m such a fashionista, and I love styling. I love her character.”

Rae and Hinton were then joined by Rosheuvel, Andoh, Drysdale, and Grammy-winning pop star Tori Kelly (whose song, “All I Want,” is featured in the Season 3 finale) on their wedding day. “It was such an amazing moment [to have them all there],” Rae says. “It was another shocker when they came to the reception.”

The couple was particularly excited for their loved ones to meet their most esteemed Bridgerton guests. “We just had told [our friends and family], ‘Oh, my God, we saw Queen Charlotte!’ And everybody was like, ‘What?!,’ ” Rae continues. “So the fact that they got to have that experience for themselves [was huge]! My mom, my friends, my goddaughters were all crying, shocked, and so happy to see them too. Because we are all super fans.”

Although Rae and Hinton had no idea Kelly would appear, her presence was especially meaningful for the couple. Hinton has been a fan of Kelly’s “before the fame, before the mainstream, before all of those things,” they say. In fact, Hinton introduced Rae to Kelly’s music in the same way Rae welcomed her spouse to the Bridgerton fandom.

“I was so happy for Shanti, because I knew [what it meant for them],” Rae says. “We couldn’t even dance. We just held each other crying because in that moment, Tori Kelly was singing for us.”

Chapter 2: Preparing for the Ball

How do you plan a Bridgerton wedding?

“I feel like for the ultimate Bridgerton wedding, you need the string quartet,” wedding planner Wilkes tells Tudum. “When I think of Bridgerton, I think of music — of all the amazing kind of combinations of the songs that we hear that we’d never heard before. It’s very atmospheric and powerful for the guests. It always really sets the tone that this is a special occasion.”

In “Chapter 2: Preparing for the Ball,” Rae and Hinton meet with Wilkes to choose the details that will make their nuptials sparkle. First, they look through Wilkes’ mood boards.

“We [were influenced by] iconic Bridgerton weddings — all the gorgeous florals and how romantic they feel,” Wilkes explains. They were also inspired by the society balls of the series, which display banquet settings, candelabras, and unforgettable tablescapes. As we see in the video, Rae and Hinton go on to choose the serveware, colorful glassware, and florals that will make them feel like royalty.

“We’ve got lots of gorgeous foliage going on,” she says. “We see all these lovely flowers in Bridgerton, we see all these gorgeous manicured grounds, and so we really want to make sure that that is very translated into the wedding. That [it was] just picked from the garden feel.”

Wondering what the next step is in Rae and Hinton’s march to the altar? Keep coming back to Tudum to follow these lovebirds on their romantic journey to “I do.”

Chapter 3: A Trip to the Modiste

How do you dress for a Bridgerton wedding?

To achieve the highest form of Bridgerton wedding fashion, you can turn to Allure Bridals’ Bridgerton collection, which is the brainchild of Netflix, Shondaland, and Queen Charlotte costume designer Lyn Paolo. Rae chose one of the designs as her wedding dress.

“Picking out my dress, it was an amazing moment because I knew deep down inside, I wanted something magical and perfect,” she tells Tudum. Rae describes herself as “a glitter girl” and wanted something “over the top” for her big day. “Yeah, I want Bridgerton, but I need to make it feel [like] me, too,” she continues. “It was so great shopping and trying on dresses. I felt like a little princess.”

Hinton, on the other hand, took their inspiration from the Duke Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). Hinton appreciated being able to turn to Bridgerton’s own modiste, Dysdale, when putting together their look. “Getting her opinion on things like, ‘Hey, how are you feeling about this? Do you like this together? I’m feeling this,’ [was so much help],” Hinton says. “And to have that banter, it was a magical moment, like being in the show for real.”

What happened at the Bridgerton wedding?

In “Chapter 4: Happily Ever After,” we get an inside look at Rae and Hinton’s big day. The couple got married on a sunny morning at Chiswick House and Gardens, a historic mansion in London. Rae readied herself for the event with products from Kiko Milano’s Bridgerton line, while Hinton surveyed the venue with her loved ones. The ceremony then took place inside Chiswick House, in a space adorned with luxurious floral arrangements.

“We really wanted to make sure it felt very grand and kind of palatial in style, but still intimate because it’s obviously such an intimate wedding,” says Wilkes.

A string band played as Rae walked down the aisle to Hinton, who was already waiting for her at the altar. “My highlight was seeing Shanti down the aisle, for sure. I was telling myself, ‘Do not cry. You cannot mess up your dress. Do not cry. You’ve got to be a queen,’ ” Rae says. “My mother started crying. I just started crying because Shanti looked so amazing, so beautiful … I felt like, ‘Oh, this is destiny.’ ”

Rae even quoted Queen Charlotte during her vows to Hinton. She tells Tudum, “Queen Charlotte has the purest heart. She’s such a sweetheart behind the scenes because she’s doing so much behind the scenes for her spouse. And I always strive to be like that.”

After their nuptials, Rae and Hinton left Chiswick House in a horse-drawn carriage with their new family crest (seen above) emblazoned upon it. Wilkes explains the crest was intended to be an extra touch to make the event feel even more personal to the couple. “With the Bridgerton families, they all have their lovely crests that represent them. We really want to make sure that Tiff and Shanti felt like this was their wedding,” Wilkes says. “So in the style of the Bridgerton crests, we’ve incorporated their initials into twines. We’ve featured the Bridgerton bee, because it’s so iconic.”

The party then picked back up at The Lanesborough for a reception worthy of royalty. There, Hinton found a delight created just for them: an ice sculpture of the Hinton-Rae crest. “We were like, ‘No, there’s no way they’d pull that off,’ ” Rae says. “And then Alice outdid herself.”

Once the pair settled into The Lanesborough, they enjoyed an evening of revelry with their loved ones. They entered the reception to Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love” and raised a glass to toasttheir union.

“The atmosphere and the vibe was on point. It was intimate,” Hinton says. “They made sure to make that moment for us and our family, which was something we really wanted. Our people traveled so far to be there for us.” Still, Hinton and Rae had to “pinch themselves” to ensure the unforgettable party was real: “It just felt like we were on cloud nine,” they say.

Now it’s time for the couple’s honeymoon. Although, they still haven’t settled on a location. Maybe they should ask Kate (Simone Ashley) and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) for advice?
