What I did with all that Lace!

I have been collecting lace runners, place mats and squares for about a year now with a particular project in mind. This weekend I finally took some time for myself and decided to dig in and see if I had enough to complete it. Turns out... I did!

I layed the pieces out on my bed in an arrangement that pleased me.

Then I took them section by section to my sewing machine and with a zigzag stitch I joined them all together.

This is the finished result!! Once again, Pinterest has offered some wonderful inspiration!
I am so pleased with the way it turned out.

I still have quite a few pieces left and will continue collecting until I have enough to do the window on the office side of the bedroom. :)

I hope you find something fun and creative to start out your New Year!!
We are supposed to have a Winter storm come through tomorrow so we will be staying in!!!

Happy New Year to everyone... 2015 is going to be a great year!

Sweet Flea at Sweet Salvage

This month's Sweet Salvage event was the Sweet Flea. Every December they have some amazing deals on many of their goodies as well as freebies and giveaways!
As usual I found many things that I wanted to take home. I did find some more wonderful white ironstone!

I am a sucker for empty frames!!! LOL!

As I looked through my photos I found a definite consistency in what I was attracted to this month.

I just adore whites and browns and green. If it looks garden-ee then I am a fan!!!

Love this...

Seriously...who doesn't need a lime green feather boa!!!!

 Check out the cool birdcage!

 Got Bling???

I adore these windows.. alas, no place for them in my home.

As always it was a feast for the eyes! It's still going on through Sunday, so dont miss it if you can!

A few Christmas picks here in my desert cottage...

Hello my friends! Things here have been crazy busy!! I feel bad that it has been so long since I have shared anything with you. But I am sure you understand! This is a very busy time of year and my shop space at Rusty Saturday has been doing so well (thank you) that I have been having a hard time keeping up with it and doing all the other things that need doing! (What a wonderful problem to have!)

Anyway, I have finally made some time to share some pics around the house.

I did a lot less decorating this year than in previous years. (Much to my husbands dismay.)
One reason is lack of time, but the main reason is just that my tastes are leaning towards a little less clutter these days. I didn't put up a second tree in the family room nor the big garland over the mantle. Instead I just went with this pretty Noel banner and a collection of bottle brush trees.

The hearth has black and white photos from past Christmases when my hubby was a kid...

 and this shadowbox I made.

My snowman collection gets displayed too. This one is my favorite.

There is a garland that hangs between the family room and dining room. It is covered with handmade ornaments.

Our tree is in the living room. It has pretty wrapped boxes and vintage toys that my hubby and I have found to use under the tree. It makes me feel like there are still children living in the house (besides my husband! LOL!)

The garland in front of the window has pretty twinkling lights, handmade ornaments and a burlap and lace ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed this peak into my house for Christmas.

I hope you are staying warm, feeling loved and enjoying yourselves!
Be kind to one another in this season of craziness!!!

Vintage Christmas wonderland at Sweet Salvage!

It was such a feast for the eyes over at Sweet Salvage this month, I could hardly take it all in!

This was one of my favorite vignettes. The little deer statue was sooo cute!

I love this one too. If I hadn't already purchased a vintage rocking horse from here a couple of years ago, I think this one would have come home with me.

  Christmas whites are my favorite!

Even all the dress forms were dressed up for the holiday!

 Seriously... how cute is this?

Love it!

This vintage carousel horse was fabulous!!!

There was much more than just white to be found there too.
Traditional red was everywhere...

 As well as gorgeous aqua.

 And sweet pink!!!

This is another of my favorite pieces from the show.

Local artist Terry Parvan from Winifred Street was also there with her lovely handmade artwork.

 I love these!

This describes this month's show to a T! I am never disappointed when I go and see the beautiful vignettes that the sweet team put together. If you haven't gone this month yet and you are able... what are you waiting for???
