Via Deadline, TKO Studios have announced they will release “Feeding Dangerously: On the Ground with José Andrés and World Central Kitchen,” a graphic memoir written by Andrés with Steve Orlando (“Scarlet Witch”), featuring art by Alberto Ponticelli (“Goodnight Paradise”). Due for release on November 8, it will chronicle the start of chef José Andrés’s organization, which was founded to provide meals in Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. TKO Studios will donate $5 from each copy sold to World Central Kitchen.

Orlando comments, “When you work in comics, at some point or another, your bread and butter is almost always going to involve the big concepts — capes, heroes, justice. ‘Feeding Dangerously’ was an opportunity to examine those ideas as they can be applied in the real world. After a disaster — how does real relief happen? How are people in need helped? That’s ‘Feeding Dangerously,’ a modern adventure book with real dangers, real disasters, and real healing. It’s easily the work I’m most proud of in my career.”

The writer previously collaborated with Andrés on a brief, 2020 comic about WCK’s work, “Hurricanes, Hot Meals, and Helicopters,” featuring art by Cully Hamner. Andrés, who has said he is a fan of Japanese comic books about cooking, has also previously worked with Mike Mignola, who auctioned sketches (as collected in the Quarantine Sketchbook) and other art to raise funds for the WCK. Per a listing at Organic Priced Books, Mignola will provide a variant cover for the book, which will retail (regardless of which cover) for $44.99.
