Sweetly Sharpened and Back 2 School

Lately "Back to School" has been the chorus of friends and family as the conversation buzzes about fresh haircuts, new clothes, and the wide-eyed anticipation of our little loves walking into the big school doors with sharpened pencils and backpacks in tow.

I wanted to send my boys off with exciting treats snuggled into their pockets...
Sweetly Sharpened Pencil Cookies.

Every part of making these cookies was fun except for the clean up. I got on this cookie craze thanks to Bake@350 ,an incredible blog full of amazing cookies! She has amazing ideas too and I'm so thankful for her tutorials. I used a ruler to make the pencil shapes because I didn't have cookie cutters and I used chocolate chips for the lead.

We are also wrapping some cookies up for friends and teachers. I used these DARLING
Cath Kidston Book of Labels and Stickers to add some cuteness to the gift.

Nothing ever prepares me for the rush of school mornings, SO if you have ANY tips, please forward them along! My tip is to purchase GOOD GEAR to keep everything organized! Below are some amazing Pottery Barn Kids backpacks (yes, once again I'm in love). This is our second year with them and they are still in durable shape!

Cameron (Skyler)...

Dakotah...

Titus...

They each have their names monogrammed on the bags which is my
FAVORITE PART!!

and when he is old he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

You are such a fun Mom! I love the cookie pencils! I too am a fan of Pottery Barn. I love looking through the "Island of Nod" catalog too, even though we don't even have any kids yet. Your boys are very blessed to have a Mom who makes things so special.

What great ideas - and your kiddos are too adorable. I hope they had an awesome first day back.

Also, we find our cash (to organize) by selling everything we get tired of. I feel like it's in and out around here. Finished with something? SELL IT!

These are adorable. I would love to see the wrapped, completed version that you gave to the teachers if you happen to have a pic.

I love the backpacks. I think these would be great since I have boys who are less inclined to want the latest/greatest kid of backpack but will be content with a classic, sturdy one. I have a couple of years to prepare though since I have 2 year olds ;)

BTW your boys are adorable!!!

Look at those cookies! What a cute first day treat and how fun to give them to friends and teachers.

Love the picture of your boys in their uniforms. Wish I had some advice about morning routine and getting off to school, but I'm not quite there yet. Maybe I'll be coming back to ask YOU for advice when the time comes! ;)

So cute Lisa! Your boys are going to have such sweet memories of their mom. =) I love the cookies! I'm sure the teachers and everyone else that received one loved them too. =)

I have an organizing tip that a friend of mine shared with me and I love it! {especially now that school has started} I bought a 7 cubby hanging sweater organizer for my boys closet and labeled each cubby with a separate day of the week. On Sundays I lay out each days outfit for the rest of the week {including socks and underwear} and place them in the cubies. =) I've even added a fun movie, game or craft for each day, my boys look forward to seeing what activities we have planned while they get dressed in the morning. =) I know your boys wear school uniforms but you could use it for their "after school" clothes and activities. I am not very organized and am certainly not a morning person so this has helped me a lot! =)

Your boys are absolutely darling, as are those wonderful cookies! Thank you so much for joining the "BACK TO SCHOOL WITH ROOK NO. 17" blog hop! I'm so happy to have you on board! You and two other people are the only ones who actually linked up a relevant back-to-school post, so I am so, so grateful for your participation and creativity! When you have a chance, stop back by and grab the button for the hop. I hope it brings some good mojo and lots of new followers your way (count me in!). Best, Jenn

Hi Lisa, you were kind enough to link your wonderful post up to my Back to School blog hop last year and it was definitely one of the stand-outs. This year, I'm working on a whole week of Back to School features and am looking for talented bloggers to guest post. I was wondering if you'd be willing to guest-post this project on my blog during the week of Aug. 1 -7? Let me know if you're interested. Thanks! Jenn
