2008 baby!!

I can't believe in just a bit it will be a NEW YEAR!!! I actually always secretly look forward to this night because it's a time of reflection, fun, renewal & yummy eats! I always love thinking about the past year & all the joy, sorrow :-( , love, hope & perseverance it has brought. I love to amp myself up for another fresh start & lay out in my mind how the coming year will go if I'm in charge. I am such a planner that way! hehe! I think this next year 2008 will bring so much to me & those around me. It's already full of fun events that I can add to. There is already one wedding coming in May, a few births coming in March (with my bet being Feb. for one of them) & one in June, my Parents & little sisters(s) will be moving to Arizona I say sisterS because I have one moving for sure & we're crossing our fingers our other little sister will join us from Provo... & I am sure there is plenty I am forgetting & plenty in the works!

Every year I try & do one thing to make the new year a little more meaningful for me so I make this little challenge for myself. I pick one "word" every year to try to live by. In 2007 my word was "contentment" I wanted to learn how to make the best of every situation & try to be happy & content with every situation. I wanted to be OK with not buying every little thing I saw in the store that I thought I needed or wanted. I wanted to be OK with all the things I can't control but would love to. I wanted to be content with the fact that I don't, nor will have the answers I need instantly. I have to say that in this process I truly am further ahead. I wasn't always perfect at this little exercise but I do think it really helped me in my day to day life!

My challenge to each of you is do the same. Think of one word that you want to see more of in your life & go for it!

For me, in 2008, I am looking forward to getting to the heart of the matter - whatever that is. Clearing away excesses. Focusing on the most important things & not worrying about the rest. Taking a deep breath & beginning one foot in front of the other.

My word for 2008: L O V E

Here is a little quote that inspired my word of the year-

Og Mandino : I will greet this day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love and be born again. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness as it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge

Here's to moving forward. To fullness of life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

If you have decided on a word for the year I would love to read what it is - I would love for you to share in the comments & post on your blog. Here are some idea words: Hope, Joy, Vitality, Live, Grow, Steadfast, Immovable, Trust, Free, Create! Good Luck!

hang in there a little longer!

What? No Christmas card from Clint & Heather yet? This must be a mistake!

Well folks, I wish this were a mistake. It's not! This holiday season has been filled with a lot of unpredictable set backs for us & has impeded my ability to send out my created masterpiece! I am very sad I am not sending out the oh so cute cards I designed for this Christmas. I have however decided to work something new up for another fun time of year, Valentines day! So, hang in there a little longer, I know for some of you this will be very difficult, but I know you can do it! Expect a little somethin somethin from good ole cupid in a little over a month!

03 December 2007

I missed the boat...or should I say train!

I don't know where I was when other children learned that trains no longer ran on coal! Clint & I were talking about how a train in Tucson ran out of fuel & I was so confused! I said well couldn't they just put more coal in & light it up? I wish I had a camera to capture Clint's expression, it was priceless! I totally didn't know that trains stopped running on coal ages ago & they now run on diesel fuel! We couldn't stop laughing, I just thought it was so funny, it was such classic me!

Who said I love you first? How sad is this, I honestly don't remember.
Who is taller? Clint
Who sings better? Um, I don't know! Lol I used to be a really good singer but it's been SO long.
Who is smarter? Clint is smarter, HANDS DOWN! I'm not even close!
Whose temper is worse? That's seriously a tie we are both VERY strong willed!

Who is more stubborn? We both are stubborn.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Clint, I am not good at sharing my feelings!!

Who has more friends? What are those?!
Who has more siblings? Clint

makin' my list... checkin' it... a million times!

I knew I had officially turned into an "old lady" when I realized that I looked forward to Christmas cards in the mailbox more than presents under the tree! Does anyone else love getting them as much as I do?

It's so fun to see red and green or even hot pink envelopes mixed in with the bills & junkmail. Plus, I love to catch up with my friends from long ago. It's fun to see how many states in the Union are represented on the address labels, to ooh and ahhh over photos and read the newsy letters.

I love sending cards too. From the time I was a young teen, I remember wanting to spend my babysitting money on my own boxed sets to address.
(To whom? I have no idea...) It just feels like such a fun and easy and happy way to spread holiday cheer. So...if you would like to be on my Christmas card list this year, please send me an email including your address; if you don't have my email already you can contact me at http://minerville.com/contact.html and I will send a little holiday cheer your way. If you are already on my mailing list, of course you are getting one--like it or not!

This is what you will receive: one card, one family photo, no Christmas letter! I will probably not have it in your mailbox the day after Thanksgiving but I will get it there before 2008 rolls around! Can't wait to start addressing those envelopes. See you at the mailbox...

our little treats!

I am sure most of you know that Clint & I don't have children. However, we are fortunate enough to have 3 adorable nephews & one beautiful niece! They all live near us & we LOVE spending time with them, they keep us young! I wanted to post their Halloween pictures because they are just the cutest things & I don't have my own kids to show off yet!

Our little Tyson { Clint's brother Brad & his wife Meghan's son } was a Lion, & a very cute one I might add! My sister Amber & her husband Burke's kids, dressed up as the gang from Toy Story! Tyler was Buzz Light Year, Brooklyn was Jessie & Carson was Woody. I thought the Toy Story theme was very cleaver with a 4 year old ,a 21 month old &
a 5 month old who looks like a 10 month old! Our little Carson keeps us wondering because Tyler & Brooklyn were tiny little babies & Carson has been one chunky little monkey. He is the most adorable thing ever! I loved the "treats" I got for Halloween this year. I'm glad there were no tricks!

big day for h-

Well, today was a big day for me! I don't know if everyone has heard, but I was hired at an adorable pottery barnish local scrapbook store to teach classes for them! YAY, it's a dream come true! Tonight was my first card making class called -simply noted- & it was so fun. I had one scheduled for yesterday, but no one signed up for it :-( I think it was just an awkward time {right in the middle of nap time}, so lesson totally learned there!! I will mainly be teaching card classes but will also teach 1-2 other classes a month in other areas depending on what my schedule will allow with EFS. I feel right at home there & love the ladies that own it. It's only about 3 minutes away from our house, so it's nice and convenient when I have to run down to grab products for a class I'm working on or if I just want to shop til' I drop! I was also busy as a bee all day making all the final preparations for a wedding this weekend. I'm so stoked about this wedding, I've been waiting to design in since January when she first booked EFS -it seems like it's been years because I've been so excited for it. The bride is the director for Go Red for Women a division of the American Heart Association. Back in July EFS {elements floral studio} provided the flowers for their largest fundraiser during the year. She has been such a pleasure to work with & I can't wait to see her fall themed wedding come to life. It is at an awesome venue in North Scottsdale called Sassi, it is absolutely beautiful... CAN'T WAIT!! {I'll post pictures of it when I have a minute next week} Stay tuned!

it's been so long!

I feel like it's been months since I have had consistent posts. It's driving me nuts! I have so many exciting pictures & stories but I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, or so it feels! Hopefully the next couple of weeks will slow down & I will have a chance to add new things to the blog. I LOVE fall! I am so excited that the holidays are peaking around the corner!

texas our texas!

July 20th my Paw Paw passed away in Texas. On the 21st, Clint, myself, Amber, Burke & little 6 week old Carson packed up a rental car & headed to Texas. We dropped off Tyler & Brooklyn at our cousin Tiffany's house before leaving town, knowing they wouldn't enjoy a 20+ hour car ride & a funeral. It was a L-O-N-G drive through Texas, but we had a few stops along the way to help! Poor Clint drove almost the whole way by himself! What a trooper! We even got to stop at an old favorite of mine & Amber's for lunch: Taco Cabana! Carson did wonderful I was so proud of that little dude! We made it to Silsbee, TX (a tiny town east of Houston close to the LA border) on Sunday in the early morning hours, just in time to get a few hours of sleep prior to leaving for the funeral. It was a very nice service, but I have to admit I wasn't as prepared as I needed to be. I am usually a very composed person & I took myself of guard when I saw him for the first time in 2 years in the casket after the service. I started bawling & I felt really dumb, because all the other family had already been at the viewing so they kinda got all their emotions out! On the way to the cemetery we had a police escort & they let us go through all the lights without stopping, but the coolest thing to me was at every intersection we came through the officer had their hand over their heart & almost every car on the road pulled off & did the same. It was such an amazing act of respect for someone they didn't even know, it was really awesome & I know I'll never forget those feelings.I have always loved & admired Paw Paw & I will miss him very much. We had a lovely time spending time with family we don't see to often & sharing special memories with my Nanny my Dad's Mom. We left Monday night & drove back into Houston to stay at a hotel to catch our early morning flight on Tuesday. On the way to the hotel we stopped & picked up another old favorite donuts,Shipley Donuts. If ever in Texas it's a must try! Even Clint & Burke agreed they were some of the best they have had! We made it back to Phoenix Tuesday morning & went right to sleep when we got home! We had maybe 10-15 hours of sleep in 5 days!

Here are pictures from the trip:

ALMOST half way there! Time for lunch!

yeah yeah I'm 22 days early!

I can't help it! Really, I can't! After being in Washington & British Columbia for a week, I couldn't stop myself from putting up the fall wreath on the front door today! Fall doesn't officially start until the 23rd! But, the leaves were just starting the early stages of turning & I loved all the beautiful oranges, reds, golds and greens I saw while in the Pacific Northwest. It made me so happy! It also doesn't help that Starbucks has their Pumpkin Spice flavor back, and it's an all time favorite of mine. I couldn't resist a Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate while in Seattle! It's a bad thing that I had one because when we flew back to the Valley I saw that we had it down here already to. This means one thing, trouble for the old wallet! If you haven't been to Starbucks or haven't tried a White Hot Chocolate from there, you must RUN not walk to your nearest location, you will not be disappointed if you like pumpkin flavors! HAPPY FALL! (a few weeks early)

two weddings and a funeral

I'm still alive! On July 20th I received word that my Paw Paw (grandpa) passed away. My life has pretty much been in a tailspin since that point. We were scheduled to move the same week we were in Texas for his funeral. Then when we got back we had to move & then later that same week we left for Utah for Mike & Leanne's wedding as well as Becky & Mike's wedding. It has been absolutely crazy. We are back in town but leaving again in a couple of days to head up to Canada for Mike & Leanne's Reception. Whew! I can't wait to get back home & get settled back into my routine. I will post pictures at some point from all our adventures!

19 July 2007

words can't describe!

Here is my favorite dance Wade Robson choreographed last year on SYTYCD! I would give anything to have the ability to dance like he does! He is AMAZING to say the very least!!

18 July 2007

hot * hot * hot

It's been a few days! There isn't much going on in H-land other than, packing for the big move, coordinating all of our vaca plans for August & staying out of the heat! It's so hot here, but there is an end in sight! Yippee! We got a little rain on Monday night & this means one thing... MONSOON! It will still be hot, but it will be bearable & you can go outside again!

August will we be non-stop! We will be little mini globe trotters! Our travels will include Utah, Washington, Canada, Oregon, & I saved the best for last, TEXAS!!! I will be eating at 2 of my all time favorite eatery's when I am there,Tortuga & Taco Cabana! Pure Joy doesn't even begin to describe how I will feel when I put that yummy food in my mouth. There are no good Mexican restaurants in this area, go figure! And NO, niether of these classify as "TEX-MEX" to all those Mexican food snobs that I know out here!!!

Next week we start the move to our new house, so I'm sure the blogging won't happen for a few days =( I am excited about our new house, it's about 4 miles away from this one, so still in the area, but I like the layout of it so much more & it's a one story. Clint & I have decided after being in a 2 story that we are 1 story w/a basement type people! I will post pictures when I get it all pulled together!

13 July 2007

the new mr. & mrs.

Jacob & Crystal tied the knot yesterday! The ceremony was great & it was so exciting to make it official. We love Crystal to death & have thought of her as part of the family for ages now! She is so beautiful, quick-witted, & fun! I loved the colors & flowers she picked, they were stunning & perfect for a romantic-vintage wedding. We used flowers from all over the globe & I can't wait to see how the rest of it turns out at the reception! I suspect it might be one of my favorite weddings to date! She & Jacob are the perfect pair! Congrats Guys! I love getting new cousins!

my cheerleader, my grandma

This is from my wedding 4 years ago next month! Wow how time flies! It is of my Mom's parents Stanley & Jewell Cronin , Clint & Me. My Grandma passed away 3 years ago & boy do we all miss her. She & I always had a special connection, maybe it was like that with all other grandchildren too, but I am still not sure to this day. I always felt special & unique when she was around. I am glad I had the chance to know her & know her well. She was an amazing, faithful & hard working woman.Today would have been her birthday if she were still alive, so I just thought I would post one of my favorite wedding pictures, I look so happy... it was taken right at the end of the reception & I was so glad all the wedding "stuff" was finally over!

thankful thursday

This Thursday I am thankful for:
  1. freedom
  2. the ability to choose my feelings about all sorts of things
  3. the knowledge that I am loved
  4. a grandmother that has passed on from this earthly life, & is cheering for me every step of journey here on earth!
  5. good friends
  6. accessories- I know it's cheesy, but I just love how a simple bag or pair of earrings make a not so cute outfit extraordinary!

thankful thursday

With all the family in town & all the activities I totally forgot about thankful Thursday last week. So here goes for this week!

This Thursday I am thankful for:
  1. Air Conditioning
  2. Ice Cream
  3. Fans
  4. Blinds
  5. Ice
  6. Family

As you can see I am very thankful for things that help keep me cool in this insane heat!

family, family & more family pictures

Tiff, Me & Collie
Chelsea & Megan
Grandpa & Chelsea
Carson
Tyler & MaKenna
Brooklyn
Dad & Mom ( they were married here almost 29 years ago!)

Some of these pictures aren't the best quality, we were all having camera issues this weekend! =)

family, family & more family!

Friday, started the basically 48 hours of non-stop family time! We had Amanda & James' wedding on Friday morning, followed by their luncheon, the grand tour of my parents new home they just bought on Tuesday, & a reception that evening.

It was a lot of fun to spend time with everyone. It really makes you think about how much fun it will be when we all get to heaven. I am so blessed with such loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, Parents, Sisters, Brothers, Nephews and my Niece. We all had a blast hanging out and building memories. My Uncle Damon & Aunt Tina secretly flew in from WA, & I have to say it was such a nice surprise to see them walking down the sidewalk at the temple like they just lived down the street & we all knew they would be there! My Grandpa & his wife Aileen also came in from AR to be here for the action packed weekend, it was so nice to see them although, I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to sit & talk with them. My Grandfathers brother Floyd who lives here in town also made appearances the whole weekend. I really don't know him so it was nice to see him & see the happiness & joy in his eyes when he was spending time with us all.

Saturday, was Jessica & Jason's turn and we basically had the same schedule minus the house tour & the luncheon because it was on the west side of town & so it was the luncheon or the reception! Although those of us on the east side of town did grab a bite to eat at Mattas. It's not one of my favorites, but Damon & Tina haven't been there in years so we went there for old time sake!

Both receptions were beautiful & brides were both stunning & amazingly happy! I am thrilled to know that their dreams came true this weekend! I am so glad I get to be with my family forever because I sure do like them a lot!

go RED for women

After all the fun we could take at the baseball game, we quickly went to the floral studio where I put the finishing touches on a bridal bouquet for Jessica's bridal portraits that evening. Clint & Chelsea took it to temple to meet Jessica & pass it on.

I stayed back at the studio with Megan to complete the florals for the Go Red for Women event for the American Heart Association. I did the centerpieces and stage/focal pieces. It was awesome! When I am doing events I am so in my element! My heart sings with excitement & joy! I KNOW this is what I am supposed to do with my life. I just absolutely love it! The coordinator for the event just loved how everything turned out, I felt so honored to work on such a great event for such an important cause. Do you know what the #1 killer of women in America is? Most people think it's breast cancer, but it's heart disease. Crazy huh! I don't normally post many pictures of work I do on this ole blog, but this was a charity event, so here are a couple pictures from the event!

baseball game with pawpaw

My sister & her family made it to AZ safely! We got them moved in & unpacked & ready to start their newest adventures in life! The timing for them moving to town was ideal because my parents & other 2 sisters Megan & Chelsea were also coming into town for 2 family weddings. It was a crazy busy week filled with lots of fun activities!

The first big activity we had was taking the kids to their first baseball game! Tyler has been so excited about going to the game. For weeks he has been telling all of us "I'm going to the baseball game with Pawpaw in Arizona"!! Pawpaw is my dad & let me tell you how giddy they both were for this experience! It was a blast to see his little face light up, hear a 3 year old yell louder than any grown up I've been around & watch him enjoy his hot dog, soda, popcorn, cotton candy, peanuts & ice cream! I know what you're thinking it WAS a little overboard (you can thank Pawpaw & Grammy for that), but it was his first baseball game after all! Little baby Carson had a great time as well! He loved watching the game, although he didn't say much compared to Tyler! lol!

19 June 2007

mr. carson

Well, Carson & I had our first meeting & I have to say, I'm in love! He is the sweetest most content little guy. He is so tiny & cuddly & I think it's the best. I told him I want him to stay just this size forever & then I remembered how much fun his brother & sister are now that they are a little bigger, so I guess he can grow! I don't think it has really set in yet, that I will get to see him grow & see all the milestones that I missed with Tyler & Brooklyn because they lived so far away. I just know it will be a blast! Tomorrow we are going to his first diamondbacks game & he told me he just can't wait! ;) lol!!

15 June 2007

cute cute!

I was dumping my memory stick & came across this cute pic. of Jacob & Crystal we were at the hospital to celebrate the birth of Miss. Piper! It made me laugh because I remembered you were doing the "James & Amanda"!! You guys are to cute! I am so happy we get to add Tallie to our family!

14 June 2007

thankful thursdays

I decided every Thursday will be the day that i write a few things that I am thankful for. I've wanted to do some type of "thing" on my blog every week & when this idea popped into my head, I knew it was perfect! I think it's a good practice to write what you are thankful for & it really helps to "see it on paper" & recognize all the blessings that you do have. It's another way in which I can think positive, so enjoy & come back often as I share what’s on my mind every Thursday!

This Thursday, I am thankful for:
1. my new nephew Carson, who i will get to meet tomorrow for the first time!

2. answered prayers. even when they aren't the answer you expected.

3. the chance we all have to make our lives beautiful each & every day.

4. creativity.

5. a husband who says i love you a million times a day!

6. new meaningful friendships (after years of none).

08 June 2007

carson alexander!!!

I am the happiest Auntie on earth! Amber had Carson at 3:08 this morning. He weighed in at a hefty 6 pounds 14 ounces! We breed em big in our family! lol He was 19 inches long, I believe. My sweet little nephew didn't have an identity until about an hour or so ago. Amber & Burke couldn't decide on a name. Boy am I thrilled that they finally picked something for him. I think it's perfect! I can't wait to meet him next Friday when he moves to Arizona!!! This is Carson with this VERY Proud Big Brother Tyler! (sorry the pic. is a little blurry, I'll add new ones when i get some of just Carson)

quite surprised

We decided to rent a movie on the big holiday yesterday. I of course wanted some gushy, girly love story & Clint wanted a comedy. I am not sure what category I would place the movie we got in, but it was something that very much took me by surprise. We ended up with "Stranger than Fiction" starring Will Ferrell. It was such a great movie. For me, it's one where you have to give it a chance & it will surprise you. I was impressed by so many things about it & think it's a good one for you guys to see. There were a couple of things that could have been left out, but nothing super crazy with the exception of the 5 seconds of men's backsides while showering in the locker room. I don't even know why that's in the movie! If you haven't seen it, check it out, you might just be quite surprised like me!

flower power

I am passionate about flowers. I love them. I am amazed at the beauty & grace they bring into a setting. I am constantly in aw of the miracle they are, the gift from God, the treasure. I feel very fortunate to get to work with something so fantastic & wonderful. I feel like my calling in life is to better the lives of those I come in contact with, whether it be for a long span of time or a brief moment. I believe that I have something to add to each & every person I meet. Flowers is one way I believe I, at this point in my life, am able to touch people in a very unique way. They don't really know it's me, but they enjoy the effects of what I do for days. I enrich their lives & bring peace during a trial, a brighter happiness when things are good & love in knowing someone out there is thinking of them at that very moment. I have the best job in the world!

This picture is from a recent event I had for Robison Orthodontics. They were so great to work with & I can say that for once not only did I get to touch a bunch of lives; I was touched in the process. The gal that was heading up the Luau, Patty, was amazing. She taught me so much about determination & will. I am truly grateful for the opportunity I had to work with her for the few weeks we had & I look forward to working with her on other events in the future. I thought I would share a picture of one of my favorite designs, it was a really fun & creative event & I had a blast! I hope you all enjoy the flowers!

i'm picky!

Ok! So, we all know that I am a super picky person in general but especially when it comes to Mexican food. I feel like I am some what of a connoisseur! It is 100% without a doubt my favorite type of food & has been for as long as I can remember! My family used to make fun of me because I pretty much can eat it for every meal & never get sick of it. Seriously, I can! All of you have to try one of my favorites here in the valley. I rarely get it, (ok like once a month if I'm lucky) so I always want it. I can't tell you where they are located exactly, but one is right near downtown on Mohave I think (don’t let the location scare you when you pull up… open the door & go in!) & the other one is up off Cactus & the 51. I am not super good with directions, but look them up on dex! It is a MUST try! Clint loves their breakfast but I always get a chicken, bean & cheese burrito, anytime, day or night! It's sooooo good! Check it out! You won't be disappointed!

posting...

I know a while back I mentioned that posts weren't an option for my blog. Well, they are now! Feel free to leave a little note, I would love to hear what you guys have to say!! :)

another wedding!

We have been so busy trying to coordinate all the crazy activities that we have planned for this summer when out of no where late last week I got an email from one of my "pseudo" roommates in college & one of my dearest friends Becky. She's tying the knot the day after Mike & Leanne in Salt Lake! I am so excited that I will be up there for her very special day. I am so thrilled that she has found the man that is deserving of her & is going to get to spend eternity with him! I don't even know if she knows how much she impacted my life. So many times I wanted to throw in the towel & she made sure I kept going. She was such a wonderful & non-judgmental friend. I will never forget her or her kindness in my life when I needed it the most! Congratulations Bec!

i almost forgot!

I almost forgot a couple more of my Favs! It's so hard to narrow it down. I am just thankful to whoever invented Tivo! I could not live without it! It's nice to record stuff I enjoy watching & be able to sit down when I can steal a few min. from my week to browse something I am interested in!
