The Railway had a well looked after interior in a large two bar pub with friendly locals. The hand pump was not in use when I visited. There was no access between the plain bar side and the pleasant lounge side. Noted closed in 2018, it re-opened, well refurbished, under its new name in 2019. Renamed (temporarily) as The Three Bellends in October 2020 to protest the Government's handling of the coronavirus crisis, with signs depicting Johnson, Cummings and Hancock. As the James Atherton (and also the Two Helmets, on a similar theme) post-lockdown they are serving quality real ale. Last visited July 2023. |
