We live in an age of buzzwords, where the focus seems to be on grabbing attention rather than clear communication. Terms like “hybrid working” and “WFH” get thrown around so much that they can be confusing. These catchy phrases often obscure the original intent, like a magician distracting the audience before a trick (AI Generated)
Problem is that all the buzz words today are crafted with such a spectacular and crafty way that they kill the essence of intent behind the letters (as simple as killed someone in plain sight)
When covid stuck humanity in ’19 first people got spooked about what can heal it and then they got spooked with what should they do in this random wave of sudden isolation, i mean hating cancer is one thing you know what implications it can cause, but by sitting ideal has been more dangerous than cancer to humanity since inception and to make matters worse officies closed leading humanity onto the path of unproductive dispair.
Finally some bright minds did some great thinking and introduced the concept of Hybrid Working means you can work even if you are not in office also and hence starting an era of remote working where laptops found great places to rest (No wonder, you always work from home with lappy kept on top of your stomach)
Funny isn’t it, you see more fun began when employees no longer have to work from office, no stress about waking up early, dressing yourself, even taking a bath was not on anyone’s bucket list and hence our work related basic ettiquets went downhill(I was also working in Formal shirts and bermudas no two ways about it — I solemonly proclaim i was upto no good)
Finally something great happened vaccines came in the market, daily case count reduced and closed earth started opening again. Now the basic instinct kicked in and want to go back to office also started kicking the ass, but all thanks to our poisonous laziness we decided to not do the obvious and decided “Lets make it work till it works”.
Corportae world was divided with some offices opening, some partially, some this some that and the working relationship between employee and employer changed to forever confused. It was like no one wanted to go back to their toxic ex but she paid on all of the dates so nothing bad once again asking her out.(Alexa play “Let Her Go” by Passenger)
After giving tonnes of threats, tonnes of claps some people returned to home turf(Office) some still in their traditional attires (Formal T-Shirts & Bermudas).
The thing is that pandemic may have gone away, many more will come, humanity will be locked in houses inadvertly for longer and lonlier periods of time but the show must always go on ( The random rat race of speeding the vehicles reaching office early and gossiping about how good your car is until the moral obligation kicks in that it is the work that we do which earns money not some brother hood statements)
I am not saying WFH is bad, actually i have been there and done that. But finally, I have reached a conclusion that when no one is there to guide you, guide yourself, take a bath, dress up and make a coffee, get a good wifi and focus on how you can earn your bread and butter.
If you follow the above factors listed by me in the previous paragarph everything is an office for you, maybe it is your bed, maybe it is your couch. Office no longer needs a labeled office space to act like an office it is more of an imagination, if you can imagine an office at your home you will think that you should talk less with your mom/dad/sister and focus on what will actually help you earn money, your focus will eventually change from scrolling countless newsarticles, listening to social media tantrums, and so called youtube podcasts
Eventually MS office suite and you will become the best friends forever.
Just take a deep breath and say office and you will see for yourself that you are working from office.
