If you want your accounting to be done right, according to standard practices, consistently and with backbone, you would call on Elri Neervoort CA (SA). She has the experience, the professionalism and the heart for giving back that has been invaluable to ROCKBlue. Our growth has increased the flow of funds and thus accounting demands. We needed a veteran accountant, including one facile with the newest software to ensure stability and accountability for ourselves and our donors. It’s impossible to overstate the importance of having Elri on the ROCKBlue team. #CleanWater #Sanitation #WaterUtilities #NonprofitAccounting #AfricaNGO #SouthAfrica

Because empowered utilities create healthy cities and improve lives
About us
What do we do? We empower utilities and improve lives. Water and sanitation services in the developing world struggle to keep up with rapidly growing urban demand. ROCKBlue aims to solve this growing gap between service and increased demand. We are a nonprofit with a large network of highly experienced specialists. ROCKBlue aims to strengthen the capabilities of water and sanitation utilities to provide these services to the poorest in cities and towns across the developing world. ROCKBlue accomplishes this mission through respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships with both public utilities in the developing world and with the international donors and lenders supporting these utilities. We believe that utilities are the backbones of cities – we believe that empowered utilities create healthy cities and improve lives.

ROCKBlue’s utility partners are charged with serving over 20 million people. This is not easy and made even more difficult by the lack of finance. Here’s where Jeremy Gorelick has stepped in with significant impact for the past six years. He’s not only helped our partners understand their finances, but he’s helped them learn how to improve their financial health and look towards external finance. He’s done this by leading our most impactful Global Initiative called ACORN. ACORN helps utilities gain access to finance and Jeremy has been the manager of ACORN. ROCKBlue is highly indebted to Jeremy, one of the busiest professionals in the business, for all that he has given to our organization and our partners. #WaterIndustry #InfrastructureFinance #SanitationforAll #WaterUtilities #africa #SouthAfrica

Richard Noth's contributions for over a decade with ROCKBlue are truly immeasurable. Not only did he help formulate the ROCKBlue model and get the organization off the ground in 2013, but he assisted with our first partnership, in Lesotho. And Rich has rolled up his sleeves and assisted with just about every division, including the Board of Directors, since. He helps out wherever he’s needed, including in some of the most highly technical areas working with our utility partners. His positive legacy in WASH has already been written, including his work with ROCKBlue, but he’s not slowing down so we feel the next chapter of his legacy will be even more impactful for all those suffering from lack of access to water and sanitation. #Water #Sanitation #WaterUtilities #UrbanDevelopment #Africa #SouthAfrica #ROCKBlue #ROCKStars

ROCKBlue has often said, “if there is one person we can’t do without, even for 1 day, it would be Francois Marais.” He’s the consummate professional, never lets anything slip and attends to the details as if he’s been in his position for multiple decades. But he’s only been with us for four years. We simply could not function without him. And, being the Operations Manager requires him to relay tough messages on occasion, which he always does with great respect and having the recipient of his message coming away feeling good about themselves. Francois’ consistent professionalism would be every organization’s “dream team member." He most certainly is ours! #CleanWater #SanitationforAll #HumanDevelopment #AfricaDevelopment #InternationalDevelopment #SouthAfrica #SouthAfrican #ROCKBlue #ROCKStars

The ROCKBlue Consultancy has grown faster than any of us imagined, which has brought with it many logistical and communication challenges that Tonderai Blessing Muvodzi handles with the greatest of professionalism and with a wonderfully giving attitude. All the while, dealing with profound electricity and Internet challenges in his country of Zimbabwe. We thank Tonderai for his years of service to ROCKBlue, the Consultancy and teaming partners. #Water #Sanitation #HumanDevelopment #Africa #Zimbabwe #SouthAfrica #ROCKBlue #ROCKStars

This is the first in a series of posts acknowledging the dedication and hard work of some of the many ROCKBlue team members doing their part to save lives and make the world a better place. These ROCKStars help us support our utility partners who provide clean water and basic sanitation to more than 20 million people in sub-Saharan Africa. NORA CHANSA’s humanitarian giving attitude and highly professional character, together with tenacious follow-through, has helped our utility partner in Zambia as well as our entire Utility Partnership Division to perform at a significantly higher level and achieve their lofty objectives. She is also setting an example for other women who aspire to be leaders in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). #CleanWater #SanitationForAll #InternationalDevelopment #Africa #Zambia #ROCKBlue #ROCKStars
