What matters to RCL FOODS is fostering the development of young individuals and this week we had the pleasure of hosting BSc (Agric) Animal Science students from the University of Pretoria at our Randfontein factory. From Touring our facilities to learning about pet nutrition and potential career opportunities, these future leaders in animal science gained valuable insights into our operations. We look forward to seeing them make an impact in the near future.

This Mandela Day, we proudly united with 26 external corporate partners and over 500 volunteers across the country to make a lasting impact on our communities. Together, we transformed 192 ECD (Early Childhood Development) centres with new play spaces and resources, reaching 9 600 children nationwide. We love it when our employees live out our Purpose in their everyday lives. Yesterday morning, at the Regional Gender Mainstream Awards held at Vodacom, we celebrated our very own Janine Govender, who was named the overall winner in the Positive Role Model category for KwaZulu-Natal! At RCL FOODS, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture where everyone can thrive and succeed. Janine’s recognition not only highlights her exceptional leadership and positive impact but also reinforces our dedication to promoting equality and empowerment. As Janine heads to the finals in October for the national event, we are wholeheartedly rooting for her. Join us in celebrating Janine’s achievement and let’s continue to Grow What Matters, together.

We are celebrating our collaborative success! This week, our Do More Foundation received the Standard Bank South Africa KZN Top Business Award in the Partnerships category! This recognition honours the collaborative efforts in enterprise development within the Hammarsdale community. Through our Township Economy Programme, we aim to address rising poverty levels among youth and women by uplifting a new generation of entrepreneurs. Through entrepreneurship training, practical business skills, and market linkages, they are empowered to use local resources in their community to create sustainable businesses. Together with The Do More Foundation and our partners, we are Growing What Matters for the communities we serve.

This Mandela Day, we’re giving the gift of play! Together with The Do More Foundation we are unleashing the power of play for 9,600 young children at 30+ Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers across South Africa. Play is crucial for children's development, helping them learn, grow, and build essential life skills. Today, we’ll be building imaginative play areas, reading corners, sandpits, bike tracks, and gardens to make this happen. Watch this space to see how the day went! #RCLFOODS #MandelaDay #67Minutes

In February 2023, our Nkomazi small-scale sugar cane growers faced devastating floods that damaged much of their irrigation infrastructure. Water is life for farming - without it, there’s no crop, no income, and no sustenance for growers, their families, and the entire community. RCL FOODS stepped in with a R25 million grant for emergency repairs to save the crop. Since then, we've invested a total of R44.9 million to restore and future-proof our growers' bulk water infrastructure. Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly with the growers, ensuring a lasting solution for generations to come. During our visit from the National Office last week, it was truly inspirational to feel our purpose, ‘We Grow What Matters,’ come to life and witness the profound impact of our community partnerships. #WeGrowWhatMatters
