Ignorance cannot be a blissed scenario...This country, being victim of cyclones, landslides in each season- would not wake up for the global warming signals, and loosing forest areas with great speed.
Any crisis like Carona, would push the country further abyss of financial shackles, thus lead to great exploitation politically and also environmental. With this darkness, the smuggling of sandal wood, deforestation would be at highest possible rate, as governments and people would be firefighting for basics...
