The Home of Data Resilience

The Home of Data Resilience

In the current data landscape, proper data management and data resilience is essential, but can sometimes seem difficult to achieve. The good news is the complex process of building a robust data protection plan can be made quite simple once you have the right information. This issue of Data Resilience Spotlight is dedicated to helping you formulate a practical approach to data resilience that fits the specific needs of your organization to a T.

Veeam Named a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for the Eighth Consecutive Time

In a world where data powers pretty much everything, customers have started to demand more powerful, flexible, and scalable solutions that can grow as they do. As the market has evolved, we’ve broadened our capabilities to include backup, recovery, end-to-end data protection, and data freedom and flexibility too.

We’ve been positioned as highest in Ability to Execute for the fifth consecutive time and were named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Software Solutions for the eighth time in a row! We are humbled to be recognized, and we couldn’t do this without you — our community of partners and customers. So, thank you! When we are recognized by a major industry analyst firm, we see it as a testament to our ability to keep our customers’ businesses running.

Developing a Robust Incident Response Plan

As our digital landscape evolves, the types of IT risks that can impact your organization are evolving too. Unfortunately, dealing with incidents — whether they be bad actors, human error, ransomware, or natural disasters — is just a part of life in this business. However, if you have a solid incident response plan (IRP) in place before anything happens, you have a much higher chance of being able to bounce forward after an incident without a hitch. With an established set of steps to take in the event of a cyberattack or other outage, organizations can take some of the fear and uncertainty out of the equation when facing any issues that may arise.

Robust data resilience involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk. This means proactively addressing potential threats before they happen, and developing, testing, and training employees on your incident response plan (IRP) plan so you can recover quickly when incidents do occur. This process might involve conducting thorough risk assessments, prioritizing what to tackle, implementing mitigation strategies, and continuously monitoring your environment and auditing your risk management tactics.

Essentials of Data Backup and Recovery

Unfortunately, the days of being able to simply avoid data loss incidents are over. So, the ability to recover lost data can be a life saver. Backing up your data is an essential step toward achieving data resilience, but just creating backups is not enough to truly protect your environment. In fact, according to the 2024 Ransomware Trends report, only 57% of organizations found that when they need to recover data from a backup, the data recovery is actually successful.

This gap shows that simply having backups in place isn’t enough — you have to make sure they work, and that they’re recoverable in the event of an attack. Every organization needs a robust DR plan that addresses what specific data should be backed up, where those backups should be stored, what steps should be taken to recover them, and what parties are responsible for recovery.

Veeam Powered with Microsoft 365 Backup Storage

Millions of users rely on Microsoft 365 for their day-to-day operations, so the backup and protection of that data has become critical. The increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberattacks, combined with the throttling and bandwidth challenges of recovering large datasets, has left many organizations unsure about whether they can meet their disaster recovery (DR) plans in practice.

Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 has now joined forces with Microsoft 365 Backup Storage to empower organizations to quickly bounce back with confidence from any data loss scenario or ransomware incident they may face. Striking the balance between speed, scalability, control, and flexibility can be a challenge, so this new integration could be game-changing for organizations of all sizes who use Microsoft 365.
